WHY DO I LOOK SO UGLY ON ZOOM?

I think it needs those Snapchat filters that make you look like a 20 year old deer.

Zoom has a filter, it helps

1 - Use the touch-up
2 - Put the camera higher
3 - Don't use overhead lighting
4 - Sit next to a window

You are welcome

Lighting. Get a mini ring light and sit your laptop in front of a window for natural light. I also put make up on before getting on calls.

I never appreciated my cheap laptop with it’s crappy camera more. It’s so fuzzy you can’t see how bad I look.

This. Also wear mascara and blush. Don't wear black or dark blue. It washes out pale skin. (If you're white). Don't wear patterns. I always wear something pinkish or a pink infinity scarf That way light reflects from the scarf to my face and gives me a nice glow.

Lighting is the number one reason people look bad on film or in photos. You need to experiment with different lighting setups, with some light on you at an angle perhaps.

I tried all the tricks on YouTube. What ended up helping is going to settings on my webcam and adjusting brightness to LOWER. I was overexposed before and looked much paler and bright white before, despite trying darker makeup etc. That changed helped a little. Others seem more "pink" than I do. It's weird. I can't do more than adjust brightness with my webcam though. That's the only setting it has. Yours might have more settings.

Put on make up, face a window, elevate camera, use filter, adjust camera settings. I look a mess when sitting at my kitchen island but pretty cute when I'm at my desk, facing a window.

What types of faces look better in one than the other?

A few weeks ago there was a good thread on makeup for zoom.. It's helpful. Personally, I use a lipstick with more red, put a gloss over that, darken my brows, use more mascarra and do my eye shadow differently based on a you tube video. Also, all that stuff about lighting works. While I usually wear neutrals for normal meetings, I do wear red or red-ish for important meetings. I'm pretty white and it helps me not look...dead.

Pronounced cheekbones. Full-on, I have a boring round face. 3/4, I have gorgeous cheekbones and a tapering face. It's shocking how different faces can look with different angles and under different light angles and colors.

Lol. I actually look really good on Zoom. Better than in real life. People always compliment me on Zoom "oh, wow, you look great!". "you're looking amazing". This is people I've seen recently and ones I haven't seen in years.
I think it's because I have high cheekbones and sharp features. Somehow they look great on camera.
It's nice but I'd rather look better in real life.
