How to handle this cabin situation....

What you describe is hell - and I say that as someone who grew up in a 2 bedroom/1 bathroom farmhouse with 4 siblings.

In these times, I would refuse to break self-isolation even if this were an ocean front house with a bed/bathroom for everyone.

Exactly. This is a 100% hard no.

I’d bring a tent if I went. But I actually wouldn’t go. If dh wanted to go, that’s fine.

This sounds so much like something my family would do. Both sides. I just roll with it. I can tolerate anyone for a couple of days to make my spouse happy. And, in this time of corona, I'd figure out a way to love anything that made them giddy. And, it's not like there is going to be anything to do over July 4th.

If you're thinking about setting up a campsite, you can make a toilet area for like $50 - portable toilet and portable changing tent. It's a great alternative if you aren't able to stand all of that togetherness.

I hope you can figure out a way to make everyone happy.

I love the woods but no thanks.

Say no due to COVID.
This sounds torturous.

Take like 4 ex lax the night before and then say you can’t go because of explosive diarrhea. I’d much rather have explosive diarrhea than go on this trip...

Rent a Winnebago.

I wouldn’t go for a week, but one weekend falls into the “suck it up for your spouse” category.

This year is the exception, though. If we’re still under lockdown, then don’t go.

But next year, yep.

I don’t understand the camp toilet thing. That would get way way grosser over the week than peeing in the woods and going inside to poop. The nice tent thing sounds good, though. Spring for a really nice air mattress from REI

This was going to be my suggestion, too.

Hasn't this been an annual thing? Why is it any more difficult this year?

What do you think a camp toilet is - a bucket with water in it that's used for days at a time?? Read up about MODERN camp toilets and how they work.

uh, you still have to empty them out somewhere—somewhere with plumbing! Your waste basically goes in a drawer that has to be dealt with at some point. Did you think it just disappears?

This. Useful for the bathroom and your own space.

As a PP mentioned, nice tent or two with camp toilet.

Or combination: tent camp plus car camp? My DH loves his truck and would happily camp in it.

Wow, OP, I think you have been a sport for going to this place in the past. I would definitely not want to go this year.
