Understood. If we did purely on that basis (which is the best boys team) we would go elsewhere. |
| Agree, BRYC younger boys U14 and younger are below average at best. A lot has to do with their tendency to be complacent with returning players. They see it more as guaranteed revenue. Rather than looking to improve the are happy keeping the loyal cash cow. If you look at their rosters. They haven't change much if at all from their U9 beginnings. You will ever see a player demoted from A team to B team due to fear of losing that $$$ . Also you will only see a B team player moved up to the A team if an A team players leaves. If you looked at rosters only not records. It would make you think WOW they are so good they scouted the best players at U9 and by the time they are U16 its the same roster. |
| I see the u14 BRYC are second in their division second to CESA, who is excellent at that age group. They cant be all that bad |
This shows good development if your best teams are your oldest teams (i.e. in the college recruitment pipeline). If your best teams are elementary school ages and the teams become average or weak at the high school ages you should run from that club. Some people just don't get it. |
| BRYC could benefit from end of DA. |
Only if the talented Arlington kids aren't run off by insecure BRYC parents |
How can they NOT benefit? If nothing else, they have a platform that involves what is now perceived to be the best showcasing opportunity -- speaking about the girls side here. Why wouldn't ex-DA players from that side of the geography flock to a club with teams that are acknowledged to currently be weaker and therefore ripe to displace players and get not only the showcasing, but also the play time.... Play time does matter. Might be better to go to BRYC than McLean if you are from outside the system.... |
If the older players were with the club when younger, point taken. If not, you are just recruiting well. |
Good development and good recruiting are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they tend to be highly correlated. |
This is not true. There’s no relationship between development and recruiting. Some clubs have both, some have neither, and some have one or the other. |
What does syc have? |
Maybe not, but a lot closer to it than Alexandria. That club is a joke. If you want a 10-0 win, put Alex. on your schedule. |
| BRYC is still trying to reap the rewards of the one great time the boys side had a few years ago. They are smart though, By not cutting any current kids and just playing the loyalty cash renewal game they are hedging their bets. My guess is they can play this strategy another year or so. |
Don’t they just recruit entire teams from other clubs? 😀. They are obviously successful and along with a few other clubs not frequently discussed beat the hell out of a lot of the boys teams of those clubs that girl soccer fanatics are frequently crowing about. It’s two different worlds. We should treat them as such even if ECNL is too dumb to do so. |
Can you explain more what happened here? |
