Phase 2 will more than likely be end of June as late as August. I wouldn't get my hopes up. |
It would be great news if we could trust it. Unfortunately, it it might just be the ravings of a lunatic. Or not. Wish we could know. Maybe next time. |
Weird, our daycare just announced they will reopen May 1 as they fall under essential business in DC. Wonder if that's going to change. |
WH literally has no say here. Each state and within each state each provider will make different choices. Most programs in VA are still operating—even if limited. |
The WH can think anything it wants. My colleagues in other countries (including Ireland) are being told/to expect nothing before August.
Would you really send your kids back in Westchester or King County? I’ll take a pass, thanks. |
I'm not the PP, but you sound like someone who doesn't have children. And if you do, then stow away your self-righteousness. |
wow. which daycare? did they say how they are doing to handle the cleaning? is it open back up, just like before? or will there be staggered schedules, smaller groups, etc? |
Movie theaters can open in phase 1 but daycares remain closed until phase 2? Seems backwards to me. |
People can wear masks and self distance in a movie theater. Have you ever been inside a daycare? It’s literally like being in a blender. |
My DC daycare never closed. I think way fewer kids are going but it’s open. |
This was only the peak if we maintain social distance. It's just the sad reality. Otherwise, there will be another, much deadlier peak to follow the re-opening. I am mentally planning for the summer to be a wash, possibly the rest of 2020. I HOPE I am wrong. But until they can test millions of people daily, and do contact tracing consistently and well, OR there is a vaccine, we will be in isolation. I do not want covid. My DH has asthma. We know so very little about this incredibly dangerous virus. It's going to take a long time for life to go back to normal. |
Are you serious? In most countries schools are the last to open |
There will be another peak regardless. As soon a see open up everyone who has been social distancing will be prime targets for the virus. |
OP, thanks for posting this! I am the OP in the thread re: need for certainty and this is SOMETHING. |
There are a lot of stipulations including these you note. Shorter hours, parents not allowed in the door, must schedule drop off so they can be staggered, limited number of kids (priority to essential workers), multiple staff and kid temp checks per day. Not providing meals. Stuff like that. |
