Mask while running?

As a walker, are you wearing one?

No, I don't huff and blow like a runner, nor do I pass people.

I can’t imagine running in a mask, but I think as a runner the onus is on me to stay out of others’ way and mitigate risk. My solution has been to run at 530 am. Peaceful, only a few others out, and it’s helped me dial down my general covid anxiety.

I run like normal. Not with a mask, that's crazy!

It is so nice, and I had time so I took 2 runs today. Nobody was wearing a mask outdoors.

I’m not wearing a mask to run or to walk around the neighborhood. We live in a neighborhood with homes on large lots and plenty of space. It’s easy to stay away from people here. If I had to run in a more urban environment, I might consider a mask.

Yep. But I prefer not to test it’s effectiveness. Please try to share the sidewalk safely and I will as well.

I have been running on the sidewalks/roads as opposed to the trails, which feel super congested these days. I rode my bike to work this morning, and had a neck wrap that I can pull up over my nose and mouth, but it was too hard to breathe after a certain amount of time. Same when I'm running.

I understand all of you runners not wearing masks, I really do. I'm a runner myself but relegated to the treadmill these days because of child care issues. However, now that there was an article in either the NYT or the Post that discusses that outdoor exercisers can actually spread the virus beyond 6 feet because of the force of their breathing, my husband will no longer allow me to take my son out in RCP because there are too many people exercising. Yes, my husband is a worst case scenario guy but I can't really argue with him. "Do you want to take the chance of us getting sick?"

We were getting along fine in quarantine but if we can't figure out some way to get the 3 year old some exercise, I might kill my husband. Would that be considered a death from CV19?

No way am I wearing a mask while I run. Plus cotton masks are not going to protect you. You’re still suck in air and with that any potential virus particles. I’ll take my chances for my sanity.

Agree - it’s debunked by many actual experts in epidemiology (simulation done by Engineers without epidemiology backgrounds and not reviewed before publishing) ). . Unfortunately a lot of people don’t know that and I’ve been sent the study a few times.

In any event, I run early and in street where possible just to alleviate others potential concerns. And I’m too old and too slow to leave that stream. Lol!

No mask. Stay out of my way, I’ll stay out of yours.

My husband and I are bike riders and we wear a mask. I don’t like it but out of respect and any possibility of risk, sometimes we have to do what we don’t want to do.

As far as your husbands unfortunate demise, that would be justifiable homicide.
