At least urine just needs soap and water. |
We only had 1 poop accident when PT-ing 2 boys. You probably won't go through all your cleaning supplies! |
We did it when everything shut down during the blizzard of January 2016! Success! |
Okay we are starting as soon as the potty supplies arrive. Did your 23-month-old use potty chairs or a seat for the big potty to start? I think I'm going to order the Baby Bjorn chairs because they have a higher splashguard than the Oxo ones. And then maybe get the Munchkin or Oxo seats and the Oxo travel potty. Happy to take advice on supplies! |
We're doing it now with our 2 year old DS. Love the Bjorn potty for boys (used it with my older DS too). Get two so you have one on each level of the house. The Potette is great for travel/on the go. It can go over the toilet seat of a public restroom or stand up on its own. We just use leftover plastic grocery bags once the bags that come with it run out. |
Day 3 of potty training my nearly 3 year old twin boys. Don't need comments "You did it too late!" - perhaps that is true but it's where we are now. Day 1 and 2 went pretty well on balance. Today on Day 3, they are just defiant about not wanting to use it and lots of accidents. It's driving me insane.
For background, they were both in pull-ups and using the potty at daycare and some at home, but on Sunday we gave them underwear and have been trying to direct them to potty every hour. Twin A peed in his undies every single time on Day 1 and Twin B had no accidents. On Day 2, Twin A had no accidents, but Twin B did. On Day 3, they have both had accidents all morning and generally refuse to go use the potty even though we know they probably need to. I feel like they're regressing but we are trying to keep firm. We let them sleep in pull-ups for bedtime and also during their 2-3 hour nap but may be forcing the underwear for naps starting tomorrow. I also notice they are extremely unwilling to poop in the potty. Anyway this is me venting but any recommendations without too much unnecessary judgment welcome ![]() |
I took advantage of the opportunity to whip off the nighttime diaper now that it's not so crucial for me to be bright eyed first thing in the morning. |
Just go totally bare bummed at home. Pull-ups are a huge waste of money and prolong the process. Also make the kids shower after every accident. No pull ups or underwear at all for three days and just remind them gently that using the potty would have been faster and easier. At three, any kid is going to take the road of least resistance. Make using the potty easier than peeing on the floor. |
My kid is 3. We are trying. It's awful but necessary. She is very stubborn and holding it all day. |
On day 2 with a stubborn 3 yo. Told him we were running out of diapers (true) and needed him to help out. Every day without a diaper he gets a special toy. He gets to hold the box but not open it till end of day. So far peeing is good but hasn’t pooped yet. Kept in diaper for sleep. |
Above pp - Just had poop in the potty !!! Feel like I hit the lottery. Silver lining of this quarantine time. |
Hooray!!! |
Checking in to see how people are doing. How stressful is it for the parents how fast does oh crap work. DS is 25 mo and while we are at home a lot, I'm worried that training will be super for me andy spouse who are generally just stressed out trying to work and deal with a toddler and 3 mo old (who we are struggling to get on a schedule). We have enough diapers for a few more weeks so that isn't the issue. |
re you kidding? All three of my children were potty trained by 24 months with no accidents! This is laziness on your part. |
Just trained my 25 month old twins! The first two days were HELL (I'm a teacher and did it the first day of no school school...huge mistake because of my work stress + being on guard constantly with both of the boys + never leaving the living room where it doesn't have carpet + all of the accidents). Third day was bad, but things started clicking (still lots of accidents but also lots of success). Yesterday and today we've had no accidents and they tell us when they need to pee or poop (we still do diaper for naps and night). I read "Oh Crap!" and we modified, I feel like it helped them A LOT to wear underwear so they could feel the wetness. I tried faithfully doing "Oh Crap" for a week when they were 20 months old and it was horrible. They never understood when they peed because it went right on the floor and they never felt wet (bare bottomed). |
