Please explain what is not correct rather than just giving a link. My interpretation is that the Freshman Connection people ARE already admitted for the spring semester. |
Could be. We were at Maryland Discovery Day yesterday. For the College of Engineering, average incoming freshman GPA as 4.456 and middle 50% SAT was 1390-1510. |
it's not "If you are in good standing..., (then) you are admitted." these kids are admitted already. they just have more restrictions to deal with. |
You are correct (not so long ago the 'in good standing' part was in force). The biggest part is that your classes will be in the late afternoon and evening (between 3 and 9 pm) M-Th and anytime on Friday. That limits what you can take. I think it's as much about facility management as a statement on the students' preparedness. |
| Some FC classes are smaller (e.g., math lectures) which can actually be a benefit. |
|
The FAQ is really comprehensive. You cannot participate in NCAA sports while in Freshman Connection. And you must take UNIV100 https://orientation.umd.edu/univoverview.html

| Other kids don't know and don't care about who is in FC and who is not. |

Around 1300, but top score in language portion. You can put down some less competitive major though, psychology or such, and get in regular with much worse sat scores. You put engineering or stem, you need much better s
cores. |
Why can't you click and read yourself, rather than make this poster reword the University's lengthy and accurate answer to your EXACT question? |
But you can decline to take any Fall courses and still get in. D |
It's about reporting high stats of regular (vs. Freshman Connection) freshmen to USNWR. |
I find it disgusting they only list weighted gpa. That should not be important. |
Well, they also said that the expectation is that you have taken the most difficult courses your high school offers and have gotten mostly, if not all, As in them. They specifically stated that if school does not offer many AP courses, that would not be held against a student. |
Yes, was trying for engineering. DS also was clear with his high school counselor that he preferred to go elsewhere, and he was admitted to more highly ranked schools although not for engineering. |
Most schools do not offer 1.0 bumps in honors courses and don't allow freshman or sophomores to take AP's like MCPS does. And it is total BS that they don't count it against you. If it did, they wouldn't have a weighted GPA as the ONLY thing to see on their slide shows. Trust me. |
