Just discovered Milkadamia (Macademia nut milk). It is probably expensive, but I can drink it in tea without an aftertaste.

What a waste of macadamia nuts.

My fiance loves Flaxmilk. I tasted the unsweetened flavor once and disliked it, but apparently it has 7g of protein (added from pea protein).

OP here.

I picked up some Trader Joe’s Simply Almond milk. It is just almonds and water. 9g fat, 4g protein, 4 carbs, 2g fiber, no sugar, 6% calcium. This is the most nutritionally sound, minimally processed alternative I have found so far.

It tastes fine when mixed with other things.

Almond milk is killing honeybees in very high numbers. Do you have lots of clover in your yard to offset the numbers of hives that are killed?

Get your protein from other sources. If you don't need milk for the easy protein and fat then just give it up in general. And if you do need it for the protein and fat then there are no equivalent alternatives without additives.

So much this.

Everyone now faddishly "going vegetarian" or "going vegan" is not doing their bodies or the environment any favors by replacing burgers and cow milk with 9-ingredient "milks" and 23-ingredient Beyond Patties that were processed in factories 1,500 miles from their homes.

3rd! There is no suitable substitute.

We like the fortified flaxmilk. I think almond is very tasty but I try not to buy it too often because of the water and bees.

We choose Ripple (pea protein) and I think it's close.

Sitting here enjoying a mug of hot, creamy, full-fat lactose-free Fairlife milk before bed. Yummm, no alternative.

i use almond milk for smoothies, oatmeal, and tea, and soy milk for coffee (blended). I even have powdered milk in the cupboard for emergencies.

At Starbucks, she has a children's hot chocolate with coconut milk, which is very high sugar with very little fat or protein. It's just a treat, nothing healthy about it.

I've tried em all and Ripple pea protein milk is my fave by far.

Puuuuuuke. Grow up, and find an ethical alternative to that swill.

Chicago-based Fairlife, under fire after the release of a video showing animals being mistreated at one of its supplying dairy farms, is being sued for fraud for promoting the “extraordinary care and comfort” of its cows on its milk labels. …Meanwhile, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office on Monday announced charges against three workers in the video authorities identified as participating in abuse. …

The new video ... shows workers punching and pushing adult cows with their feet as they struggle to get them into the milking carousel, and some cows falling and being pinned as the system rotates. According to the animal welfare group, frustrated workers would bend and break cows’ tailbones when they wouldn’t cooperate. It also shows cows crowded into tight pens and piles of dead cows and calves in the dirt.

If you are not intolerant, keep drinking some local milk. I get the Origins Guernsey A2 grass fed milk and it's amazing. I can't tolerate regular milk. Almond milk production uses a great amount of water in California.

Np, not a vegan, but drinking a glass of milk is just nasty to me. Drinking the breast milk from another species, meant for their babies? Majorly weird.

I like unsweetened cashew milk in things like hot or sipping chocolate. Great for dipping cookies.

Plant based diets are great when you’re talking about eating whole foods not highly processed “health” alternatives.

Agree with this. None of the processed synthetic milks are that "healthy". I'm drinking the Califia almond milk because it is supplemented with calcium
because I am casein intolerant. If I wasn't I would be drinking real milk.

I'd just read the labels and buy the one that is supplemented the most and has the least chemicals added. That is what I do.
