SWS Ever Announcing the Swing Space Location??

Am I the first to post that Spingarn was selected for the SWS swing space, with a start date of Jan 2021. Modular rooms will be constructed and kids will be bused from SWS. Address is 704 26th St., NE.

sounds like a good solution! that should be a short bus ride from SWS, and there ought to be plenty of room for a temporary playground.

This is great news for SWS!

Gotta go edit my list. Wash Met would have worked for us. Springarn won't

Understandable. From the school community perspective, families prioritizing proximity to Washington Met may have been less likely to stay enrolled and trek crosstown once modernization is done. A small percentage of SWS families do it now so who knows, but proximity to Spingarn would be pretty manageable for Goding as well.

DCPS, per their communication with the SWS community, plans to provide buses from the 10th and F NE school site to the Spingarn swing space. Seems relevant to mention that pickup/drop-off could still happen at the SWS building not just at the Spingarn site, though it would involve a short bus ride for the child.

They do this for every school that’s swinging elsewhere. And the pickup and drop off has always been at the ‘home’ school. And yes they run different buses for the ECE kids and their are aides on them.

Has there been an official announcement of this? I have not found it anywhere.

Letter from DCPS COO Patrick Davis forwarded to school community by principal. This is official but not sure how they announce publicly

It's also great news for Browne EC which is slated to swing essentially on site in this location for their modernization following SWS

They did not do this for Maury...

Maury swung to a school that kids are inbound for, so in theory it was walking distance.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know whether the delayed renovation start date (1/2021) is expected to delay its completion? I.e., are kids going to be in Carver Langston for 1.5 school years (1/2021-6/2022) or two (1/2021-1/2023)?

Oh, nevermind, just found the answer to my own question in the letter: the School-Within-Trailers project will "not impact the overall modernization schedule."
