Dating strong men

I think I like to feel a little more of an equal (even if I am weaker) in terms of strength.

LOL 99% of men are stronger than you. The guy who is close to your "equal" in strength might be an 85 year old man in a wheelchair.

Op here. I don't even really have a type but I think 300 lbs of muscle is just too much for me. I don't mind muscular men but a guy that size - I don't even know if he can really hold someone small - his chest and arm muscles look like it would be hard to cross his arms!

It also makes me think steroids - although who knows he could just be naturally a big guy who goes to the gym.

I have watched those strong men competitions. I am a little in awe of their strength but I just don't find that Viking build to be what I think I want in a guy. Then again, I have never dated a guy his size so who knows!

Yeah, that didn't come out quite right. I know they are stronger and I like that strength but I like to be able to at least hold my own for a few seconds or ensure they have to work a bit to overpower me!

Well hey I'm 6' 2", 190lb and I'm single.

I dated a guy who was recruited for the NFL. It was weird in some ways and, when we fought, sometimes scary. I’m tall but after we broke up I did go in a different direction physically. My husband is more to my scale.

Why not? It’s not like you have to eat 300lbs of meat. He is just a guy. With big “everything”.

It sounds like you're just not that attracted to him. Which is fine. I'm not into big guys either - my husband is 5'8" and I don't think I've ever been attracted to a guy taller than 5'10" (I am 5'3"). I wouldn't worry about him, most of my girlfriends prefer big tall dudes - he'll find a date easily enough.

If he’s physically attractive enough to you to go on a date, why not give it a try? You can see in person if there’s chemistry. I’ve always been 50 to 100 lbs smaller and up to 8” shorter than my romantic partners, so I’ve always known that they well overpower me. I don’t know that a taller, heavier dude would really make a difference.

I’ve never been afraid of a man due to his size. I am small myself and a dude rolling over on me and suffocating me has never been a concern.

Think about. When was the last time you have seen one of these large guys accused of hurting women? It’s always normal looking guys who do hideous killings and chopping, burning, and put pieces in oil tanks.

The average serial killer is about 5'6".

It was a very thoughtful message and then near the end he said something alone the lines of just before you look at my profile, I wanted to mention that some women find my appearance intimidating. Just know that I am a softie at heart and a really gentle person (I am paraphrasing).

I go look at his profile and he is a mountain of a man. Height was 6'7" and he just has a really big frame, is muscular, has an angular face, and looks like an action figure. (Maybe kind of like The Rock's size). It was intimidating and honestly, even though he seemed like a nice guy, his size was a turn off for me. I felt bad for him since he feels the need to let women know he isn't scary but his physique is just a little scary. It wasn't so much that I had fear of being hurt although his size would make me feel a little vulnerable but more that it would be like he would roll over and crush me and that his strength / size was just too much. I think I like to feel a little more of an equal (even if I am weaker) in terms of strength. This felt to me like I would be a small child - big adult feeling in terms of strength.
Then I felt a little guilty as my response was pretty superficial and this guy obviously has a hard time getting past a first message due to his size. I am average height and weight so not super petite but he would tower over me.

Have other women dated really big strong men?

I think big guys, even 6'7 guys have an advantage. Ever take a look at the wives and girlfriends of NBA and NFL players? Nothing but dimes. I doubt he's having problems lining up dates because of his size.

I'm 6'3" with broad shoulders and while I can appear intimidating, I know some women are attracted to me because I'm 6'3" with broad shoulders.
