How will our roads be safer from not having auto inspections??

Inspectors are scam artists. I have had them put a rejection sticker on my car for something that is not a part of the safety inspection regulations which meant I had to spend another hour + $16 getting it reinspected somewhere else. Other common scams are telling you your headlights are out of alignment or you need to purchase a new gas cap from them in order to pass.

None, but when you can simply drive your car with a rejection sticker to another shop and pass with any of the above issues, it is clearly a scam. Maybe it's different out in the rural areas where people drive beaters bur around here it's just a cash cow for shady gas stations.

So every single car?

Car tax revenue doesn't go to the state.

The decision to eliminate the safety inspection is just a cheap political trick to partially cover the gas tax increase, which will cost drivers more in the long-term.

So, has this happened to you personally? Please, do share.

That would explain why most of the beaters around here have MD tags...

Why didn't you report them to the State Police?? The shop and Technician would lose their license ???

A gas cap is emissions not safety. Do you hate the Earth that much?

You get a $1 reinspection if you go back to the same station. Why are you shopping around?

The gas tax has not been raised in year ....there is a reason. Look for more and more toll road.

Actually our sales tax was raised to pay for roads. They were never built!

When our sales tax went from 5 to 6 % it was a extra tax for NOVA roads only.

I shop around because these are not real problems. If these inspections were real I would not be able to pass after simply driving to a different gas station in Arlington. It's just shady business required by the state.
