Sorry, I draw the line at open drug dealing in front of the freakin' library on a saturday afternoon. There are limits. They can make their drug corner somewhere other than where children hang out.

Okay z I guess we have different lines.

OP has commin sense and civility and you dont?

Common sense. Sorry.
So, drug dealing and maybe dead =911. Passed out, 911 or 311. Definitely call- it's part of being in a community and the reason we have emergency and non emergency help lines (311)

I wouldn't have called 911 for the drug deal. We don't have 311 either where I live in NH. We are encouraged to call the precinct directly if it's a town or 911 if it's in the city. For the drug deal I likely would have googled the local precinct and called. It's not an emergency. Those dealers will be long gone before the cops show up. I don't like to clutter the 911 lines. But it's still worth letting the local PD know

I would not have called the police on any of them. Drug deal doesn’t last but a few minutes. They would be fine by the time cops showed up. Passed out in the middle of the street or the curb? If curb, it’s cool, he just needed to sober up. Most that overdose on something powerful aren’t dead. Just good crack

That’s not how crack works.

Move out of the city. This stuff won’t be an issue in the Burbs.

Opioid deals happen in garages and basements

Fine I’m not walking over people who are high on heroin if they are behind closed doors.

For all of you saying OP shouldn’t have called about the drug deal, are you aware that many shootings occur over a drug deal? Shootings are happening all over the city at all hours. The drug deal at the library could go from fine to dangerous in a matter of seconds.

I’m with OP. I’d absolutely call if I witnessed that.

OP here. Yes, that is why I called, exactly. I don't want there to be an open-market drug corner right there, with the attendant violence.

I think you're just naive, is what I think.

Nope I’m not naive. I just think 911 is for life and death emergencies.

Ya’ll do realize the library drug deal may have led to the other 2 calls being needed?

I wouldn't have called for the drug deal or passed out person. I might call for the OD because if they were really in trouble from opiods, narcan can reverse the OD and save a life (in some places, librarians are now being trained on how to administer opioid reversal drugs).
