Why You Don't Use Turn Signals

If you drive in this area and you don't use turn signals can you please tell me why? I'm not talking about dedicated turn lanes or right on red I totally understand letting that go but what about this whole just stopping in the middle of a main street to turn onto side street and nobody behind you knows why you stopped? What is that all about?\

We're all just going to blow by this?

OP, you are in dire need of a hobby. And a life.

I’m not the Op, but you must be an idiot who doesn’t use a turn signal!

Well, sometimes I leave my turn signal on because you won't let me in and I still have to get over.

If your signal remains on for more than 30-45 seconds, I guarantee this is you problem, not an "other drivers won't let me in" problem.

You're going to have to explain the causal collection you made there.

Using a turn signal gives your next move away to another driver who may (and will) then choose to aggressively cut you off or otherwise block your desired action. Signaling a line change is basically the equivalent of guaranteeing you'll get cut off from completing it.

What!? Signaling a line change is the equivalent of avoiding an accident!

Somebody waved a thank you to be yesterday and I was shocked by the courtesy. It’s sad that a simple thank you makes me think that’s a really nice person. And yes, I have MD tags as the person who I let in and waved to me.

I only use them if I need to indicate that I’m turning. If I’m in a dedicated turn lane or exit ramp I assume it obvious.

Eh, that's not always the case. Have you tried to merge onto the Beltway from GW Pkwy going back into MD during PM rush hour? I do it every day and trust me -- even though I put my turn signal on as soon as I clear the entrance ramp, sometimes I can't get over until I'm almost to the other side of the bridge, and I'm a relatively assertive driver.

I do love it when people merge into the lanes going onto the 270-spur at the very last minute without using a turn signal. Just excellent that I have to slam onto my brakes.

I just think it's fun to surprise everyone.

BMWs don't have them

Ya’ll need a basic driver’s ed class. Any lane change or turn requires a turn signal whether you are in a turn lane or not. Look at your DMV website.

Hate to break it to you but I can see you slightly drifting towards my lane and maybe even checking your blind spot. I’ll speed up to block you unless you put your signal on.

NOPE! It is not a me problem, dude. I am talking about the beltway, not the local streets but, good try and trolling.

Stop this, please. Yes, we all want people to use their turn signals but this technique will not help.
There's enough friction in the world without Roadway Justice Warriors (RJW). Let's not join those folks working to enforce the speed limit in the left lane of the beltway.
