Agreed. Also, please use turn signals at stop sign intersections. We will all get through quicker if we know where each of us intend to go! Turn signals allow others to know what you want to do. If you see others with a turn signal on, please let them make their move. |
This is what I was taught in Driver’s Ed (in Maryland). |
This is the silliest thing I have read in a long time but thanks for your honesty. |
| Because of foreigners. They drive don't use the left lanes to pass, and don't pay attention to anything but their phones/own heads. |
| I prefer to use my signal. If you sit on dc traffic you quickly learn using your signal will cause others to not let you on. Maryland drivers on traffic actuay speed up to prevent another driver from potentily gerting head. Drive 495, 270 or bw parkway in bumper to bumper traffic, it always holds true. |
This poster is correct. The person calling it silly doesnt drive in traffic. |
Aww. Did mommy forget to teach you your manners? |
100% this. I’ll let anyone with a turn signal in. I will not let you in if you don’t use one. |
| Because I drive a BMW. |
You make it sound like it’s a war. This is your winning strategy. If people want to merge, what’s the big deal. Everyone needs to change lanes at one point or another. |

I'm pro turn signal. I was taught that being unpredictable is dangerous when driving. While I need to be prepared for other drivers to do the unexpected (apparently including some pps), I want to let other drivers know what to expect from me.
If you put your turn signal on and give me a chance, I will try to let you in. Turning on your signal as you're cutting in front of me isn't particularly helpful. Also, please use your turn signal if you plan on turning. It's frustrating when waiting to make a turn for a car to pass by, only to have the car slow down to make their own turn without signaling. If the car would indicate their intention, we could both make our turns. |
This right here explains EVERYTHING you ever wondered about MD drivers - they have a whole different set of traffic rules!
|
NP, and I was about to post something about using turn signals. Failure to use turn signals can be dangerous - whether its changing lanes on the highway, or making a left turn on city street. Its also quite illegal, although that appears to not be enforced around here. |
I've said it before and I'll say it again - this is how a license test is conducted in Maryland: Please circle the item below that most resembles a road. [picture of a potato] [picture of a 4 lane highway] Answer the above correctly, and congratulations, Maryland has just awarded you a driver's license. |
I also learned to drive in Maryland and can confirm that this is what was taught in Driver's Ed. As for the license test, it was conducted entirely in a parking lot and we were only graded on our ability to make a three-point turn, parallel park (in a space big enough for a bus), and back-up. We did not have to drive on an actual road at any point in the test. I really hope this has changed. |
