Two players with the same jersey #.

If they were U14, a card was going to be given that game. Best to have the numbers unique......Ref should have caught when he reviewed players.

That said, I would allow it, making a note on my card 11a 11b or 11blonde 11brunette or whatever.

So did you successfully protest the loss?

Agreed. Somebody probably left the correctly colored jersey at home. Matters not.

This.

Team you played probably has two teams at that age group and brought a player from their other team. That player probably had the same number as someone one the current team. They should of taped it but didn’t. I have seen it before in an NCSL game.

And the managers of those teams should go to detention. Its manager 101 to make sure that no one has the same # in the age group within the club, so kids can play on any of the teams in their age group, as needed, and not have to find a jersey!

It isn't a big deal. Nobody should go to detention and this is nothing more than a angry parent trying to lawyer out of a loss.

Except in most clubs the team managers have no say in the numbers. The club assigns them out, the club also issues double numbers within the age group because Larlo has had that number for so many years. I know one club where the DA team numbers were not deconflicted with the rest of the club, one kid gets dropped from DA to a lower team and guess what happens? 2 kids on the same team with the same jersey number.

Actually saw this in a tournament where players from higher level team in same age bracket played in lower team (same club) games. There were three sets of kids with double numbers, and all the duplicate number kids arrived together with a coach right before game time (presumably coming from their own game). This was a big tournament taking place across multiple sites. Higher level team did not do well, lower level team were semi-finalists. No one protested.

In other words … assuming there were less than three referees at this particular match, would this matter have been handled appropriately (whatever that means) if there were three refs who all agreed on how to handle the situation?

This fall, my DD has played in league matches with (1) three refs, (2) one ref, and (3) **zero** refs.

On a related matter, can trained/certified refs work games across multiple leagues. Are there any limitations preventing a qualified ref from working DA, ECNL, CCL, NCSL, etc. games on any given weekend … or during any given season?

Yes, referees can ref across leagues. There are no limits that I know of. However, DA refs may be hand selected but the assignor responsible for finding refs for those games. In other words, NCSL doesn't have their own refs. CCL doesn't have there own refs, EDP doesn't have their own refs, etc.
