Have you cheated on your spouse ?

Interesting. Why?

different poster, also a man, and I actually totally understand this. Monogamy is a real slog, I am not a sexually jealous person and would be happy to each have our own get out of jail free for a moment to experience that thrill again. I would probably high-five my wife if she had a great time, as long as she didn't catch anything. If you're married a long time, it starts to make more sense than you think

Wife here.

you missed the memo that cheating is never about lack of sex, but instead about the desire to abused your spouse, and particularly about child abuse.

Husband. No. Married 12 years.

Husband. Married 20 years. No.
I don't pay enough attention to see it going on around me. I don't think of it as normal.

We both led rich and fun lives before we got together, my lips haven’t touched another since the day we got together and like I said before I don’t think hers have either.
I miss the thrill of new flirting, new perfume, feeling new curves on a hip or waist, the electric first kisses etc. and I’m sure she does too, why wouldn’t she? We’ve been together nearly half of our lives (both 46 now) and if at some point in our time together she got to have a make out session with a stranger in a bar or some rando then I would be happy for her to have had a break from our long-term monogamy. I am 99% sure she feels the same way for me, and we’ve always had this don’t ask don’t tell agreement that we we joke about but I’m pretty sure she’s never acted on it and I haven’t either; it’s not the closed doors that bother us, the locked doors we can’t get into are the ones that make us crazy.

I like that you can be this open. Not sure that if/when the cheating actually happens you won't feel differently. Although, if you really do have a DADT policy (joking about it means it isn't quite real) then it isn't cheating. I think you should firm that up.

DH here. I've had EAs online. With some pics, phone sex, and vid clips.

No, I still adore him. I don't think he has cheated either.
We have sex multiple times per week, with equally matched drives. We both initiate.

Married 17 years, together for 21.

No, but I’ve certainly fantasized about it especially when my DH has me face down. I really have no need to cheat as anything I need sexually is taken care of by my husband. He’s really good at taking direction!
