| How many kids are there in each classroom? |
|
The waitlist movement for Walls is always substantial, but it went down significantly from last year to this year (meaning less waitlist movement by June) so I do not think there is a trend against students going to Walls.
|
Recollection from what? The dream you had last night? This is complete BS. |
Yeah. No. Fake news. |
If isn’t fake but it is probably dated and the demographic shift at Wilson has probably nearly eliminated this problem. 9th is one of the few grades in DCPS where they allow students to be held back for being below grade level. Go back a few years and look at 5- year graduation rates and you will see the PP is not wrong. |
There is a trend of Wilson IB students not going to Walls. |
It depends on which classes a student registers for, how many teachers there are for that particular class. etc. It's high school, not grade school. |
And they did this knowing the size of the student body. People need to stop fretting over this. You can opt out if it bothers you. |
|
Does anyone know where this number is published when it is official (count day)? I cannot find historical information on the school profile as the number of students is not broken down by grade.
|
It is here: https://osse.dc.gov/page/2018-19-school-year-enrollment-audit-report-and-data For 18-19, there were: 480 9th graders 476 10th graders 415 11th graders 418 12th graders |
NP. What would be interesting to see is what the size of the class that graduated in 2018 was in 2015. |

I know a number of Deal kids who wanted to attend private but didn’t get in. These are all A students. It was exceedingly difficult this year. This adds to the numbers at wilson this year but is good as these are kids who are really motivated to do well. |
Also good that there are more seats at SWW for motivated students who lack a decent IB high school. |
BC Wilson now has a plurality of white students* (and will be majority white in 2-3 years). Parents no longer feel the need to send them to an application school to be surrounded by a strong peer group. That's why many students IB for Wilson went to SWW. It wasn't for the more rigorous courses (Wilson has more APs and dual enrollment options, those students also didn't pursue the GWU associates degree option). *https://dcschoolreportcard.org/schools/1-0463 |
