By politics I assume you mean Israel-Palestinian stuff? The ultra orthodox are not really involved with that. In fact, many are pretty anti zionist (since the messiah hasn't come). The show takes place in Israel but isn't really about Israel.

No. I was actually thinking more about serving in the army, control of gets and remarriage, etc.

Okay, watch it and then come back and tell us if it was not worthy. Maybe it does not have what you think you would want in it but maybe it has other things that you will appreciate. It is really awesome. Give it a try. One episode and report back .

Not to take this off topic, but I know Ultra O Hassidic Jews who are in theory not Zionist - they don't sing hatikvah, they ignore Israeli independence day, they don't fly the Israeli flag, etc - but they strongly dislike the Palestinian cause, more so than most secular or Reform Zionist jews do, because they simply see their own relatives endangered by day to day acts of terror, and they are much less inclined to contextualize or excuse those things, and are more inclined generally to an us vs them way of thinking. This may have been less true 20 years ago, but the second intifada, the stonings and stabbings, etc, have shifted the community - even if they still don't want to serve in the army.

You know.. now when you mentioned that (above bolded).. If I recall there is something political after all when the Rabbi does not allow kids to watch the plain flying by to celebrate..

There, now you have no excuse.. there IS politics in it after all...

The show is amazing, can’t wait for season 3 whenever it happens. Actors are in negotiations over pay.

The protagonist is played by a guy who is a model in real life.

Btw, why post this in Religion? It isn't a show that's about religion, per se. It's a show about a religious community.

Let us know if you hear anything! Also wondering how are they going to go about the one that they are planning to do in NY?
It is not going to be the same actors I presume... but is it the same script but modified to the NYC. I think it will be set in Borough Park, Williamsburg? ..
