Yes, I would hire a male sitter if I knew him, like knew the family or knew from from the neighborhood /recommended by somone/ knew from Church.
I would prob not hire a stranger whether male or female.

Church should not make you feel comfortable Had a couple of bad experiences with males as a child. My parents trusted them based on the fact they attended our church. And no I'm not Catholic.

As a mother's helper or to take them to the park for a couple of hours sure. Other than that no.

Sadly no wives seduced me either

Do you still babysit? DW has this fantasy about a male sitter...

Those of you saying no, do you also have an issue with male teachers or sports coaches?

Some of the teen boys in our neighborhood babysit during the summer - I think it's good experience for them and they are nice role models for some of the younger boys (i.e. good students, polite, etc).

I work in a school setting and have worked with some amazing male teachers...all of whom were very careful to never be alone one on one with students...good policy for all teachers IMO. Lots of male coaches/camp counselors out there... I watch them carefully and listen to my gut instincts. My kids are still young but we’ve talked a lot about being the boss of your body etc. Regardless, I’m not hiring a male babysitter to be alone in my house with my kids. Nope, why risk it?

You are talking about a group setting versus one on one. Completely different

Neither are alone, in your home, at night. No where close to the same.

And no. I would never use a male babysitter for my DD.

That's great. I wish we had teen boys in the vicinity who were willing. Great experience for them, and great to model the fact that childcare is not "woman's work."
