Which BC does this refer to? Boston College ended the honors program a couple of years ago. |

UMCP, UMBC, St.Mary's, Pitt, Miami, and Northeastern.
Yes, got in all of the safeties. |
Not quite. But you go ahead and keep discouraging kids from applying there. I'm sure that'll help your kid.

| WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., March 19, 2019—Williams College has extended offers of admission to 1,205 applicants for the Class of 2023. They were selected from a total applicant pool of 9,715. |
Love Williams, but this is just flat-out wrong. |
| DC - Pitt, Marquette, Loyola Chicago, UMBC, and GMU. She got into all with merit at the first three. |
Amherst College admitted 1,144 of 10,567 applicants into the class of 2023 on Friday, March 22. The record-setting number of applicants was a nine percent increase from last year, and the first time the college received more than 10,000 applications in one application cycle. This admissions cycle also saw a record-low acceptance rate. Last year, Amherst’s acceptance rate was 12.8 percent; this year’s acceptance rate dropped to 10.8 percent. |
10 kids tops from the DC area is just not accurate - there are two kids from our high school attending Williams next year. That's just one school, and I'm sure there is representation from the many excellent public and privates in this metro area. |
According to their guidebook there are 120 currently enrolled Williams students from DC, VA and MD. Considering that the school has a roughly 50 percent yield, that means about 240 students from these states were admitted -- 60 a year on average. That's more than 10. |

TJ rising senior. 4.02 WGPA/ 1520 SAT (740/780), 800 Math 2, Physics and Literature SAT 2. Middle of the pack for TJ. Will apply to Pitt rolling admission at the beginning of the school year as the school. We can afford it and they will almost certainly get in (my definition of a true safety). And if they are rejected, we will know in time to recalibrate. Wooster and St. Olaf as likely. Matches include CWRU (arts and sciences, not engineering), Kenton, Oberlin, Macalaster, WM.
Not likely to do reaches. Does not want UVA, and we can’t afford private w/o merit aid. |
Do kids at TJ not take many AP classes? The difference between the weighted and unweighted GPA seems to indicate mainly honors classes. |
Also try Northeastern. DC had very similar stats (not TJ) and got into Northeastern with decent merit aid offer. |
Kid should at least apply to UVA then. This is nuts. |
