It sounds like you have a distorted body image. You are not thin. If you are fit and toned, then your body will still look 'good' and you may be very healthy but you aren't thin. Which is fine. Not everyone needs to be thin to be healthy. The BMI is just one index that helps to look at overall health. Like blood pressure or heart rate. You have to look at BMI in the bigger picture of all other aspects of health. What is your body fat percentage? waist circumference? etc |
This poster literally shows up on every one of these threads. |
The 5’6” poster? |

To decide if you are healthy, look at:
Blood sugar levels Blood pressure Heart rate Weight BMI (height / weight) Body fat percentage and distribution pattern of body fat Cholesterol and other lipid levels Organ function (kidney, liver etc) There is a correlation between BMI outside the healthy range and increases in other indicators of poor health. That doesn't mean everyone is unhealthy. If all other indicators of health are good, don't worry about one number |

If you’re an athlete or lift a lot of weights, your BMI is meaningless. Also, some people have a larger frame or larger chest which adds weight. If you like the way you look and your doctor says you’re otherwise healthy, don’t focus on this one number.
There are always posters who chime in that they are 5’6 and 115 (or less). That’s not healthy. I have friends like this and they don’t look healthy at all. My daughter has similar stats and while it’s ok as a teen. her doctor is concerned about her diet because she doesn’t want her to lose any weight. As a matter of fact, her doctor has emphasized that being thin doesn’t equal healthy and she needs to eat more nourishing foods and increase her fitness level. |
Agree. Here’s a thread from April. Must be the same. The OP is 5’6” 120lbs and trying to lose 5lbs. Needs help. |
+1 She says the exact same thing always |

Agree. I’m 2 inches taller at 5’1 and the only times I’ve weighed 124 were my first pregnancy and during college when I drank all the time and ate like crap. I look best around 105 so no way does 20 more lbs on 2 fewer inches not look at least pudgy. 110 should probably be your max at that height. |
That is not anorexic for a short woman. I am 40, 5'-2, and weigh 110 lbs, up from 105 in my college years. I've never weighed as high as 124 except during pregnancy. |
It depends a lot on build. I'm 5'0" with a wider frame and I look too bony under 115 or so, and don't even menstruate under 110. My ideal weight is around 118. My mom is the same height with a smaller frame and at 115 she looks a bit bulgy. BMI is one indicator, but it's not the be all and end all. There are too many other factors. |

What is there to be frustrated about? You don’t have to do a damn thing with that information.
Seems like in reality you’re mad the chart is calling you out on being chubby. And you are. It’s not a big deal. No one you know would ever say that because 1) short people are small in general so they don’t seem “big” 2) Americans have a pretty skewed sense of who is chubby. |
True but you’re somewhat of an outlier and even then OP is shorter than you and weighs 6 lbs more than your ideal weight which is objectively rather high for someone so short. She looks chubby probably and the chart reflects that. She is a high weight for her size. |
