I feel like every week there is a story of a man who works with children abusing them or being into child porn. I hate to have prejudices against men in these fields but am finding it hard to avoid them.

No. The person before me insinuated it was not surprising because he was single. And I said it was surprising because he never seemed creepy to me. Then I just said I thought he was married. Married or single are not reasons to be a pedo.

I'm the one who said I got creep vibes. I don't know. There's nothing I can specifically point to, it's just, I ask myself, "Who would do this, full-time? I mean, KIDS, 24-7??" It's not like he's a teacher or a professional (doctor, SLP, OT, etc.). It's just very low barrier to entry: "I know, I'll sing songs and play music for kids, and clown around and goof around with them!" It just seems to be a weird thing to do if you are an adult, choosing to spend that much time with children when it is not a professional job. I don't know, I know it sounds weird, but I just look askance at ALL these sort of "ad hoc" performers, you know who they are, I won't name them. Think of the other child performers who are also big goofballs and who have been doing this for years and years and years.

To explain myself further: it would stand to reason (to me) that a person who had an aberrant attraction to kids would find ways to be around kids a lot, and it seems this would be an easy way to do it.

You just can't trust ANYONE anymore. You really can't. You have to assume, "Someone here may be wanting to do something creepy to my child," and never let your guard down and do not let anyone sort of try to insinuate (groom) their way into your family. :/

Are you aware that some of these children entertainers easily clear 100 k. It’s not someone deciding to just hang with kids. It’s an actual profession that the really good ones make more than teachers, etc. Every profession has good and bad people in it.

The owner of my daughter's dance studio was recently arrested under allegations that he had a sexual relationship with one of his 16 year old dance students 5 years ago. Not the same as being a pedo, but it was still very shocking.

My father was an elementary school teacher. He was beloved, he was talented, and he was dedicated. He was in no way a pervert, abusing children, or into child porn. He just liked the innocence and sweetness of most kids, and being able to make a difference in their lives in the classroom.
