McLean ECNL

We avoid all ECNL clubs.

That travel is once a season. I'm not sure why so much derision for one weekend. Not really a big deal.

You forgot to mention some out of town showcases that require airfare.

This is no different from dance moms taking their kids to Disney for competitions, gymnasts driving to competitions in South Carolina and much better than hockey parents always going to Boston or Chicago. And beats all the equestrian families who pay crazy sums and stall their horses out in Loudoun County and drive there every day for hours on end.

No, I didn't. I didn't take the travel comment out of context. Most highly competitive TRAVEL teams would expect to participate in a tournament or showcase that may not be within 40 miles of Arlington. That's not a "regular season game."

I still can't fathom how getting a bus to drive 6-7 hours on school weekends for regular season games is even in any family's consideration.

Which are regular season and which are SHOWCASES? You don't join a SHOWCASE league to not go to SHOWCASES.

NC is a nice easy weekend trip drive. Richmond is a barely a day trip. Both are probably league games. Orlando and Texas are not regular league games.

You are also painting a very different picture when you tell someone "it's no big deal, just one weekend in North Carolina and not mention the two other weekends you are FLYING to games. Does it matter if it is a showcase or a league game when you are just as out of town?

And that is not to mention the showcase in New Jersey in the late spring as well. So, you are not being truthful when you say one weekend a season.

Not truthful? Regular Season means a thing. Showcases mean ANOTHER. The ECNL "ALL IN" activities, not be confused with ECNL "ALL IN" PR, includes ALL the activities and is neither of those one things separately. OP didn't comment on both things, just regular season league games and there was no reason for me to bring up Showcases out of context.

They forgot to mention two games in SC in September also.

Here is the OP:

You are fixated on regular season games over one weekend. The context of the post is also about the travel commitment overall. They are complaining about a bus ride but you don't think two extra weekends that require airfare is NOT relevant to their overall concerns? You must be a coach.

The travel is at least two weekends a season (4 weekends plus per year) to North Carolina or further.

You are traveling more than one weekend a year.

"or further" could include any or all of the following destination: Florida, Texas, Phoenix, South Carolina, San Diego and New Jersey for the record.

Back to the thread at hand-why is it taking so long to decide 2006 team? Did a lot of non-McLean girls attend tryouts?

If your child doesn't make ECNL, will they accept Green or look around? We are waiting for an offer and will probably look around at some other clubs before committing.
