I have to be 10 pounds UNDER my pre pregnancy weight to look as thin as I was back then

Wait till you hit menopause and your body shape changes again even if your weight doesn't. It just all gets redistributed to places you don't want it and away from places you do (unless you go for plastic surgery options). Fun times.

I feel you OP. I lost the fight at 39. My body is now amazeballs, but my face... getting fillers this weekend.

How do older women like J. Lo and Halle Berry look so fit then if you assume this?

Genetics, $$$$$ and lots of "work".

+1 You are facing the a$$ or face conundrum. There are fillers but that is a slippery slope. Will we still be doing this at 40, 50, 60 and 70+? When can one just accept themself as they are?

What's wrong with wanting to be the best possible version of oneself? For some people it's career, and for others it's fitness and maintaining one's shape.

Because the best version of oneself doesn't get frozen at age 20. Your body changes as you get older. You can strive to be the best version of the person you are at age 37.

And you need to examine the idea that having a little pooch somehow means you aren't the "best" version of yourself. I've known some really skinny/fit people who are horrible versions of themselves because they are so hellbent on the scale and low body fat determining their self worth.

So 3 kids and you have the time to ocd about 10lbs? Ok, life is good.

Just bone expansion alone is going to cause your weight to be distributed differently. I went back to prepregnancy weight after my first child, but went up a size because my hip bones just wouldn't fit in my clothes anymore. Also had a slight pooch of my belly that has gotten dramatically worse after my second. Sigh.

Having a girl with my second child has helped me keep perspective, as particularly with a daughter (and also important with my son), I want to set an example of loving the skin I'm in rather than being self conscious of it. I take care of my body through eating healthy and exercise. I don't want to set an example of getting a tummy tuck and breast lift for purely cosmetic reasons on a minor tummy pooch as I hate the thought of my daughter knowing that I felt like I had to fix my body to fit an impossible standard of beauty (and it is an unrealistic standard if it takes surgery to get there).

They starve themselves.

Gisele quit modeling because starving yourself eventually takes a role on your body.

You're also using the top .01% as an example.

It’s not normal at 40 to have a 20 yo body.

Even J.Li has a different body now than 20 years ago.

Yes. Age plays a big role. I see younger people my size and they look great. But as you get older things just....flop more. It sucks.

OK, so bone expansion does NOT exist. Just get over it. WHO CARES?

45 yr old here. When I was younger I could get away with working out and eating anything. Nowadays, I have to really watch what I eat; doesn't matter how much I work out, unfortunately. Now that I'm older though I'm more focused on being fit and healthy vs being skinny with perfect abs.

Of course it exists. Part of puberty is the widening of the hips. Hips also move during pregnancy. Are you the same genius who is claiming, in another thread, that toning muscles doesn't exist because you can't diet and grow muscle mass at the same time? I urge you to get a primer on anatomy and physiology and then come back so that you can annoy me less often with your uninformed yet imperious posts.

They show that it's possible to not end up looking like Roseanne in midlife.
