A magnet program does not have to be selective but it does have to pull students from outside the school boundaries. |
No, it's a magnet if it draws students from outside the school boundaries. That's it. No need for selective admissions. |
That is so stupid. So “magnet” depends on where student lives and not proven capabilities/abilities? God, MCPS is totally screwed. -np |
The new magnet IB will be at the updated Northwood or Kennedy. |
Probably be at Northwood since Kennedy will be part of the W consortium. |
Find a new hobby, please. |
Yes, that's what a magnet is. If you're talking about test-in magnets, then you need to specify that it's a test-in magnet. This isn't unique to MCPS, and it isn't unique to this decade, either. |
| I think putting it at Kennedy would be a good idea. |
Dude, how much property are you sitting on near Kennedy? Your obsession is disturbing. No, one but you ever thinks about that school. Almost no Kennedy parents post here. Nothing about this thread relates to Kennedy. Kennedy is already part of a consortium, there is already and IB school in that consortium. |
I know it's the obvious choice. |
Kennedy has had IB since 2012. |
If it became a magnet, I would how they would divide the county with RMIB. |
Kennedy has an IB program already (so staff don't need extra training), is underenrolled, and has the highest FARMS rate in the DCC. I think a test-in IB magnet would add a desirable program to the school. |
Somebody keeps posting that on DCUM. Kennedy is projected to be over capacity in 2 years. |
| Um, can someone just find out what is said in the BOE meeting and report back? Thanks. |
