No. That is Jamil Walker. Alan Portillo’s 01s have become one of best teams in country for last 2 years but haven’t been able to win that trophy.

His 03s look to be on a good trajectory as well after his first 6 months.

Best teams in the country outside the Development Academy (not really though). Why are you guys recruiting on a parent forum?

That’s a good one. Half the topics on this forum are the same style of “recruiting ”.

Pretty confident that Alan’s 01s can play with anyone in this country at that age. But if you’re looking for kick and chase, then Alan isn’t for your child. As the OP said, come watch a session and see what a “teacher” looks like.

Yeah. Pretty sure DCU, Bethesda, Richmond, and VDA run them off the pitch. Keep recruiting on a parent forum, Alan.

The key word is "run"

His teams don't hide from anyone and already played a few of those and far from getting run off pitch they were many times the better team even when not the most talented.

And I guarantee Alan isn't on here...he is one of a rare few coaches in the area where his work speaks for itself and has no need to post on a parent's forum as a coach...unlike the several other coaches that post on these boards. We know who those are.

If you are worried that your players will leave for another team, try being a better coach, a better teacher and a better person, they will stay and more will flock to you. Being an arrogant fake only can last so long before people see through it.

Stop bashing others that work harder than you do.

Well said Alan or Alan’s family. Keep recruiting on recruiting on a parent forum. I’m not a parent in the age group or a coach. I’m just someone who has seen enough to know. Good luck in Boys ECNL. Great league. Totally worth the travel and expense.

Ignorance has no bounds. As for expenses, you're right on. No youth soccer expense are worth what you get. $2000 a year for a third or fourth team is the other end of the spectrum. Also not worth it.

What's the annual expense for Mclean 2003 ECNL team, including league travel? My son is in this age group so I want to understand the cost of playing in ECNL.

Having done this multiple years for multiple kids. I can answer that. The older the players are, the more it cost because of travel. Base cost of around $3200 plus travel. Player travel costs will depend on number of showcases and playoffs. Meaning the more successful the team is, the more travel there will be. For player (not parent travel) travel costs, you can safely budget 4 trips for league games of $250-$350 each which includes hotel and bus. The showcase costs will depend on which showcases are selected. But the cost are not cheap as air travel in necessary to many of them. So for each showcase, I would budget about $1000 for each trip requiring a flight and $400 for those not requiring a flight.

Alan Portillo is the worst coach ever!

If Alan Portillo is such a great coach who builds great teams that win, then whatever is happening to his ECNL 2001/2002 team that he manages? They are loosing all of their games so far. I guess he did not get to recruit super players to make that team work? Whatever

Most of the kids from his 2001 team, which won the Nationals, have graduated and went to play at college. It is hard to replace them. Next year, this team will have a big infusion of players from his 2003 team, which has a lot of talent.

Alan or Alan’s brother is awful for trying to recruit players on a parent forum.
