Coffee shop employee

Get a job at Starbucks and you will find that being nice to frequent customers is in the HR manual.

You sound jealous. I am sure he will get around to you eventually.

Well, I'm a guy, but I'll keep an eye out for a timid weaksauce beta male who keeps making lame conversational gambits but never musters the courage to ask me out.

* That happens to post on a mommy forum about relationships.

Awkward

You're 30 years older than her. She's not interested.

+This was how I felt when I worked at coffee shops.

If she smiles and chats with you, her likelihood of a tip increases. Don’t read more into it.

Plenty of men post on DCUM, including in the relationships forum.

Dumbass.

Yeah, I know it's tacked on at the bottom as an afterthought, but you have noticed the and dads part, right?

My friend once ordered a cappuccino in a coffee place and the guy made a heart shape out of cinnamon/coco powder? in the froth. She gave him her number

This. It's one of those words that as soon as I hear I know that guy who said it is a loser. They are typically guys who think that acting like an inconsiderate asshole makes them tough. They don't realize that people just can't be bothered to call them on their sh!t and mistake annoyed tolerance by the adults in the room for being "beta." One thing that I learned from years of MMA training and working out with a lot of cops, prison guards and bouncers --- really tough guys tend to be the nicest, most soft spoken and polite guys you'll ever meet, and with professionals it's not a question of being "alpha" -- it's just training and they don't get emotional about it.

For some reason I thought baristas are beneath most of DCUM posters

None of those guys is a timid, vacillating, indecisive weakling like the OP. What term would you use for a man who is a timid, vacillating, indecisive weakling? "Beta" at least has the virtue of economy.

Maybe it's a register clerk!

The rule of thumb is: never ever assume that someone in a service industry is into you. They get paid to be pleasant.
