Wow. Way to completely insult girls in a very deep way AND make the male experience reductive. Well-done. My hat is off to this cutting and insightful comment. |
| Patriarchy. Women get fed up and drop out of the rat race of dealing with men. |
Women's fashion changes every season. A man can put on a suit, or any clothes actually, that he bought 5 years ago and it will not look out of fashion. |
Dear god I hope so. Wake me when it’s over. Signed, A 51 year old woman. |
And in other ways it doesn't -- women are more educated than men; make up at least 60% of university students; have a lower rate of on-the-job fatalities by far; and work less dangerous jobs for less overtime. They have the luxury of time to experiment. |
Some of us women aren’t slaves to trends. The majority of my clothing stands the test of time. I never buy into stupid things like silk cargo pants or bubble hens. |
But why would so many of them want to look masculine? |
This. Society let’s girls push boundaries unlike boys. And girls are generally more fad driven. |
This. |
This too. |
This, in a few years, maybe more, there will be something new. |
| Because biologically female sexuality is often more malleable and less pronounced until a woman enters her 20ies. So, in a way, it is true - many young women are, indeed, bi /pansexual, or really kind of none-sexual. Low libido in women is the topic of a good many topics here on DCUM. Many girls base affection not on attraction of bodies, but that of souls. That, as we can all appreciate, can be directed towards a person of any sex. |
| I've noticed this too with the young kids (elementary and mid school) who are gender non-conforming. They are almost all girls (who now identify as boys) and, notably, they almost all have older brothers. Hmmm.... |
Looking masculine in our society = short hair (often), no makeup, pants and non-form fitting clothes, comfortable shoes. See what I mean? It’s a lot easier to look butch than it is to dress to impress men in a societally proscribed way. And when you get tired of dealing with men, you may no longer fell like shaving your legs and wearing heels. |
Do you have a cite for this? I think the last time I looked, the two professions with highest rates of injuries were elder-care and logging. There are a lot more women in elder-care than there are men in logging nowadays. I don’t think I’ve ever seen stats on OT work by gender and would be dubious of those stats even if collected, as many “pink collar” jobs are misclassified as overtime-exempt despite being low wage. |
