Wow! |
| Are you this insane about everything? It is clear you don't want your kids in a car with your parents and you came up with an excuse. And not a good one at that. |
| So no carpools for your kids? Right? |
| From DC to Florida!??!?!? I d beg them to take my toddler for like the entire trip down AND back!! Screw the type of car! |
| OP... are you my SIL who won't let my 7 year old ride nice with me in my sedan, because it's not an SUV? And despite not having had a single traffic infraction in 15 years? |
| ^^ *niece (obviously) |
| Go with your gut OP. Your answer isn’t gonna come from people who just assume that you don’t have to weigh risks. They’re fine with their world view-I’m best when I weigh actual risk factors. |
|
I think you are being unreasonable, but it isn't my child. You are the parent and you have to decide whether it is reasonable.
In this case, you have to weight whether you want to insult your parents vs your caution over what you consider safe/unsafe for your child. As someone else pointed out, the best solution is to switch cars periodically so that your parents can drive with their grandchild for some part of the trip. Then your child rides in your car with your insurance protecting them. And you appease the grandparents on the trip allowing them to enjoy some of the trip. |
| Ridiculous. |
| You have an anxiety disorder. Get treatment. |
| It is much safer if you fly. Driving to Florida is insane. |
This. Are you sure they arent just being nice to offer because they think it will help you out? If it makes you feel uncomfrtable, just say no. If they want to be with the grandkids, maybe let one of them ride as a passenger in your and one of you - husband or you - go ride in their car. |
|
Unreasonable. I wouldn't let my mom's husband drive my kids but he drove a kia and refused to wear a seatbelt, so I think that was different.
|
| You are being totally unreasonable and paranoid.....not to mention snobbish about your car. |
|
NP here. I have never ever let my kids drive in the car with anyone but DH and I. My kids are 19 and 17 now. I’m glad I didn’t. There was no need.
