Nothing tastes as good as thin feels

You are not a superior person because you are thin. I value many things higher than a persons weight. Are they loyal? Kind? Able to make boundaries? Do they practice self love and love towards others? Are they kind to animals?

If someone is morbidly obese in a way that impacts their lifestyle and is still eating cupcakes then I am little judgey- but to be honest, two people can eat the same amount of calories and based on metabolism one may be thin and one may be overweight. I don’t think most people care or notice the difference on a daily basis.

Wow, defensive much?

Read my post. I never said "being thin is the most important thing in the world." I said being thin is better than eating whatever you want. You read a TON into it that I wasn't saying.

I wish, but no. Chocolate is way better

You can have both, as long as you don't eat massive amounts of chocolate.

Hmm. Define massive.

OP sorry folks are being so judgemental! I agree with your post and I am overweight.

As an emotional eater, I often think to myself that 'food solves nothing'.

I also go with being healthy as my goal.

I think the whole US emphasis on thin as a sign of beauty is sick. And I am a thin person. There seems to be an idea that denying yourself the pleasure of eating is some kind of a moral high ground. And that leads to eating disorders. Plenty of people have a healthy mind set about eating and weight all around the world. Fix the mind set, you will fix obesity crisis. Plenty of people enjoy food without feeling guilty about it. I assure you baguette with butter tastes good, so does steak, enjoying food doesn't lead to obesity, more likely opposite is true.

I am overweight now but used to be thin. I'm overweight for a majority of reasons that are medical and hormonal, but I gave up after not fixing them so now add poor choices to the equation. 85% of the time I eat, I eat to do it, it's like a thing, a feeling, but it's never this stupid TV image of a fat person sitting two cheeseburgers on their belly and moaning in pleasure over the food. If it's not disgusting and I'm stressed or sad, I'll eat away mindlessly. If it had anything to do with taste, then I wouldn't eat anything that's not perfect fruit and veggies and top notch meats. And when I ate only those, I still wasn't thin because weight gain, for the thousandth time, isn't a simple matter of calories in and out.

And the same people who believe this are the ones who think it's OK to divorce a spouse or cheat or indulge if unsatisfied. So bizarre. One hurts a ton of people, and one hurts you.

Who are these adults who still care about weight? It is so superficial and shallow. Teens, I get it, adults, no. Be healthy. Live your life.

Yes, above pp got it right. Drone eating, not eating for pleasure and joy is the cause of obesity crisis.

Agree, this is disordered thinking. I used to work with girls with anorexia who were in an intensive program, and sadly, this type of thinking was common. I don’t think it something that should be celebrated or promoted.

If you think this is a singularly US phenomenon, you haven't been around the world much. Go to South Korea and then tell me we're the only ones obsessed with being thin.

You're misusing "precursor."

I am actually an immigrant here, so... yeah. Lived in several countries. Yes, people are thin and worry about it in other countries, but my point is that eating should not be associated with feelings of guilt and shame. Eating is to be enjoyed, It is drone eating that causes weight issues, I truly think that people who enjoy eating as a true pleasure and take time to enjoy it have less problems with weight. How often are these South Koreans eating chips mindlessly at night? And guess what, even if I eat chips at night, I am not going to feel guilty about it, I might eat less the next day. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels? Really? I sure think many foods taste way better and are worth couple of extra lbs.

It's true for me, but I don't like this kind of thinking - seems like it encourages unhealthy behaviors like starvation/ restricting. I would rather look good in my jeans than have that ice cream, but I don't diet - I eat at home most of the time, my diet consists of mostly protein and veggies, and I allow myself occasional treats (mmmm, Cadbury creme eggs), guilt free.
