Would you be worried about a male teacher in a pre-k?

My DS had a male preschool teacher and we thought he was great.

Not that I think I think anyone should be prejudiced, but I have boys so I really don’t want to be prejudiced against males in certain professsions. That’s the other part of advocating for strong women btw.

Nope, wouldn’t worry me at all.

We love the male teacher in my daughter’s preschool.

It might, but assuming your kid is 4 if this is pre-k you teach them what their boundaries are as far as using the bathroom, not sitting on adult laps etc etc. As he gets older he is going to be around people unknown to you. So instead of worrying about the person give him the tools he needs to keep himself safe.

Only women should change diapers?

I would have found it odd until my kids' preschool hired a male teacher. He is amazing and connects so well to the kids. There are safety mechanisms in place and nothing about this guy gave off weird vibes.

Both my sons had them and they were some of the best teachers. Especially for boys.

I should note these were two different schools.

I would not automatically worry about that, no.

Yes, be VERY concerned. Just change schools.

+1

OP, if you have been abused, get help -- but not everyone is out to get you.

I would ALWAY suspect a male teacher, at any age. I don’t care if you think I’m a bigot. I would be doubly suspect at a catholic school. I’m fsct, I would never ever send my kid to a catholic school. Pedophiles are everywhere, but they flock to places where they are given responsibility over young children, and the church.

I would never have a male child care giver. Catholic male, that much worse.

"opposite gender bathroom policies"?

So I understand that means you want the male teachers to never help a girl in the bathroom or change her diaper.

So... umm...that means that no boys should ever get diaper changes if there are only female teachers (which is 99.9% the way it is) and also any boys who have a toileting accident shouldn't have anyone help them change their clothing, etc. because, again, most teachers are female.

Sucks to be a male in that school! Guess all the parents just come and change their boys every 3 hours? And pick up their boys if they have an accident?

Think about it.
