Can I still sign up for the While House Egg Roll?

I would be surprised if they had it. No other holidays have been celebrated outside the dystopian blood red Christmas.

They've managed it every year mostly because Melania's staff, the ones handle these things, seem halfway capable, unlike the West Wing staff of dysfunction.

Kudos to the staff for trying to maintain a tradition since 45 seems to be antisocial otherwise

Agree with the post to bring some food. Long time to get there, long wait for security, and time at the event kid was ready for a snack. Boiled eggs with flavor toppings were good for the adults but my kid wouldn't even try one.

I hate Trump and I would go. The White House belongs to all of us, not him.

The lottery hasn’t opened yet, so just sit tight. When it opens, you sign up on the rec website and then when it closes, you get your email of doom.

OP this is my thread from last year! I ended up going (the group I got tickets with was my whole immediate family, sibs/parents/all grandkids and I couldn't be the one person to wreck all of us getting tickets and being available for it).

It was great! Kids had a great time and I didn't see a single Trump. I really felt like a 'ridiculous liberal snowflake' so to speak rereading this a year later honestly. And I know that makes me sound like some kind of Trump troll but seriously it was fun and my kids loved it and I have some photos and videos that I really treasure.

I’m guessing you can walk right up sans ticket, unless they bus families in.

We went under Obama, these things don't have food. It's about the activities and you're supposed to be there a max of 2 hours. We are glad we did it once, I suppose, but won't do it again. It's like Disney World without the rides. You wait in long lines, sometimes the weather is crap, and you can buy overpriced souvenirs.

I am a very liberal person who loathes Trump. I went last year with my family as a guest of a secret service agent who has served many presidents. It is a cool thing to do, we just avoided the Betsy Devos book reading event. We didn't come across anything Trump other than the commemorative eggs which my children bang around and ding the paint on today. The White House is still the White House. It was something I went to with my sibs parents and all the grandkids and had the opportunity to go by skipping the line.

We went and it was great. I think not everything has to be politicized. I seriously considered boycotting the whole family event and refusing the invitation because of Trump but felt at the end of the day I was being melodramatic and I was right. Having gone that would have been ridiculous.

OP my one piece of advice is to bring food. The only sign of Trump level dysfunction was the fact that the only available food were boiled eggs on sticks and a cookie decorating party.

I am also super liberal and trump makes me nauseous. I’ll be entering the lottery again this year (no luck in previous years) because my kids are the perfect age to enjoy it and it’s a tradition that should be above politics. I’ll try to do as pp and avoid the political players.

Hi- what are good ages for this? I have a 6 and 3 yr old.

We went for Obama’s final one with an almost-6 and 3.5 year old. I think those are the sweet spots.

I think those are good ages. We took our 6 yo and not quite 2 year old. Older one had a great time, younger one was totally grumpy. But we’d tried to get tickets for 6 years and finally did and figured it was unlikely we’d ever get them again.
