Enriched classes. When do notifications go out?

We got ours to Lee MS today. DC assigned to both magnet classes.

Did your kid get into one or two classes? How did he/she do on CogAt, if you don't mind sharing?

I don't mind. She had 99%/99% on verbal (i.e. national/MCPS) and 99%/86% on math. I think it was 99%/95% on non-verbal but don't have the paper in front of me. She also did very well (99th percentiles) on MAP, so I wonder whether that factored into it as well -- she's generally been strong in math (finishing compacted) although clearly didn't show that on the CoGAT compared to MCPS group.

Do you mean SSIMS?

What are the enriched classes? Is that different from Honors courses?

Sorry, I did mean SSIMS-Silver Spring International Middle School

My child is in the Applied IM 6th grade class this year. SSIMS just started the registration process. I believe current 5th graders have already been contacted. See link: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/ssims/news/news.aspx?id=621819

Thank you! My child has a similar profile (she's still in 4th), and I don't think she'll make it into a magnet, but it's good to know that there are enriched classes available at the home school.

Thanks for the link. I can't tell from that if the notifications about enriched classes have been sent out separately, or were included with the registration cards. Has anyone been notified by SSIMS?

Are you a current SSIMS parent (6th grade) or rising 6th grade (current 5th grade)?

Did you receive a registration form with classes listed? Last year we received a letter about the new enriched classes. After the guidance counselors visited the 5th graders and gave them their registration form for 6th grade, which listed the new enriched courses.

This is helpful. My DC is coming from a different (non-SSIMS) elementary, so I guess I need to call SSIMS to ask how she gets registered. I tried once and they didn’t mention counselor visits or registration forms. So this helps me ask the right questions.

Are you attending the 5th grade open house tomorrow? You will find out who is your daughter's counselor and that person should be able to answer your questions.

Yes, assuming it’s open as scheduled! I wasn’t sure what happens, but I’m glad to know we may actually be connected with someone. Thank you.
