| Twins - Got them at the end of 6th grade because we don't have a landline and they stopped going to an aftercare program. iPhone 8 only because they were BOGO. |
|
No.
We gave him my old iPhone in the middle of his 8th grade year, to get him used to it for high school (because he's someone that has to get used to things). |
| 6th grader has an iPhone 6. My husband and I use Androids but it seems that when tweens/teens say "phone" they really mean "iPhone" so we got her the iPhone 6 grudgingly. |
Right. Because when kids say jump, we say "how high, sweetie?" |
| DS got his grandmother's iphone at the end of 6th grade when she upgraded to a newer version. It got replaced with a refurbished 6s middle of 7th grade when the first one crashed and burned. As long as the battery holds out, we don't plan on replacing this one unless he buys it himself. |
| 7th grader has iPhone SE, which we got for him the summer before 6th grade. |
| Ir's an LG something. Whatever she could afford at Verizon, as she paid for it herself. Looking at the prices was a good lesson in living within her means. |

Both my kids got phones in 7th grade. Both got nice phones, but not because I was willing to pay! First one, we switched, and my phone was buy one get one free, so dd got a Samsung s7. 2nd dd just got iphone 7, but only because it was cheaper than basic phones or refurbished because of a special new line deal.
Both girls know to be super careful and responsible if they want to keep them! |
| Pp here. I was initially going to upgrade and give 2nd dd my old phone, but the upgrade deals were stinky, and my phone works fine. Cheaper to get her the new snazzy phone. Go figure. |
| Sixth grader has a pre-flip phone style with voice and really laborious texting. My get an old iPhone in eighth. |
| iphone (don't know which model). Since other kids have iphones, there are advantages to also having an iphone (connectability for imessages, facetime, and whatnot). |
| 6th grader iPhone 6+ |
| 7th grader has new iPhone. I think all of her friends have iPhones. |
| 6th--our old iPhone 4. It still works! Barely...doesn't take newer apps which is just fine with us. She uses it to text or call us for the long walk home or on days I work later. She occasionally texts friends, but her most frequent contacts are her parents |
|
Samsung s9, my old phone. I get a new one each year, is therefore so does he. I might switch to an iPhone l, but I'm old and dont like new things.
He has had a phone since 5th grade. We don't have a landline and we both work. However that is irrelevant, I'd have gotten home a phone anyways. |
