But will the kids at the new campus learn what to do when they see a used needle? That is the question...

Holy eye-roll. Why bother with DC public school threads if you wouldn't cross the park or only come to the city for work?

Eh, Ive lived 3 blocks from that location for 10 years, we go to the playground in question ALL the time, and I don't find this eye rolly, but legit. My toddler has picked up crack pipes, we are sometimes accosted by people on K2, people are living on the basketball court. It's actually beyond normal "city living"

I'll add that i LOVE it when the MV kids are there, there is safety in numbers and I think having that mass of kids there protects everyone.

Again, you’re talking about the current relocation, not the new location on 8th and Varnum in Brookland.

Where is the playground at the new location? I drive by every day and haven't seen it.

Currently, there is a small structure behind the building. You can see it if you turn in the alley right before the front.

But that is slated to be torn down eventually.

Hmm, so not the one at Scrilli, right? I'll have to look more closely next time.

Has the P street location become better managed? I know a lot of parents are unhappy with communication and behavior management issues. I’m worried that taking on a new location is just going to worsen the problems at both schools.

It’s essentially a stand alone jungle gym. Not really a playground per say.

Many current families and staff have this same fear.

This. It’s not really visible from the street. It’s on the alley side. It’s small, but it's better than nothing (or walking 3 and 4 year olds one mile round trip).

Honestly I think things are better at the P street campus this year because there is a new principal (the old principal is now focused on the expansion) and I think the new principal is better. just my opinion though.

It's not that small. It's a full play yard, just the equipment itself is rather small.

We are also interested in the campus but don't see walking to Turkey Thicket as viable at all, for recess. That has to be 10+ minutes walk each way, so you will lose a lot of time.

What grades will the Brookland campus have? How many students do expect to start with?

Could you share more about the issues you’ve observed?

So, are any parents from Mundo P Street moving to the new campus?
