Empty Gucci Package!

I took it to a local jeweler (certified TAG) to get it sized correctly only to find out that it was a stolen watch.

The jeweler was nice - showed me how they knew it and gave me the watch back. I called the online realtor who made it right.

What they think happened was that someone was "cleaning" stolen property. That they purchased a watch - swapped out a stolen won and returned it. The retailer put it back in inventory and sent it to me.

This happens all the time. People also will buy something (bags, jeans, jewelry, etc.) and then "return" a high-quality fake.

So is the best way to prevent stuff like this from happening is to purchase expensive items in the store? After reading this thread and others regarding stolen purchases, I am starting to rethink making online purchases over a certain dollar amount...

Years ago I bought an iPad at the store (Best Buy) and when I opened it, the only thing inside was a bunch of cut paper to make it the same weight as an iPad in the box. It was even sealed (shrink wrapped) and everything. I took it back to the store and it was NOT easy to convince the Manager that I purchased it that way. He had to call the district or regional Manager for approval to swap it out. Approval was given and the other manager apologized for the inconvenience. When my replacement was brought out, I opened it in the store to make sure it wasn't just paper. I still don't think the Manager believed me that my box was full of paper. It still bugs me, but no, buying in the store doesn't always guarantee you'll get what you want.

UPS isn't any better!
I bought 400 rounds of .30/'06 Mil spec ammo for my DH and they delivered it - - somewhere, but not to me!
They did however make good on the loss.

Delivery to the wrong address is a bit difference than receiving an empty box! I ordered a book and FEDEX just delivered it to a different address. That happens all the time. But, an empty box when it’s supposed to have merchandise in it!??

They are sending another pair, but for me that's not the point. Somebody stole something that belonged to me and I feel violated-- and they got away with it. I've had a shitty year and I bought the earrings for my birthday.

Same thing just happened to me. I ordered a pearl necklace from Macy’s (online only because the white gold color wasn’t available near me for in-store pickup) and when it arrived, he box was empty except for an invoice. It seems this happens for items that are in the jewelry department smh. I do not believe it to be the doing of the delivery courier because the Macy’s box wasn’t tampered with at all. There wasn’t even tape on the outside of the box that could’ve suggested someone opened/resealed it. It was sturdy....and empty. Yes they are sending a replacement, but I still feel very angry that someone stole my item when they are clearly a Macy’s employee who must use the Macy’s name for their W-2s and their side theft of consumer orders for extra “income”

Put a claim in with your credit card if they won’t send you another pair. No big deal.

I am currently on the line with Macy's. I am trying to figure out where the theft took place-- at Gucci or along the way to it being shipped?

Has this ever happened to anyone out here before? I mean I've had packages stolen before, but never have I received an empty box!?

What the hell does this mean?

I once bought a dietary supplement at the drug store - not prescription, just available on the shelf. It wasn’t cheap either. I got home and opened the box and it was stuffed with napkins and cardboard to make it seem full. The box was sealed expertly, but when I opened it up I could tell that it had been resealed with slightly stronger glue. So weird. I don’t think the store employees fully believed me, but they let me exchange for another one, which was fine.
