Not dark at all. However, way to be wayyyy behind the trend are you sure you want to do this?

As a designer I can say this is 100% true, but it is also important to do what makes you happy. Grey is extremely trendy and that trend is in the rear view mirror, but if somebody likes it that doesnt matter.

Repose Grey js actually pretty light. I'd also definitely call it cool. It is not a warm greige at all. Itjid very common as far as greys are concerned and I'd say it is a safe choice that you'll see in every home painted in 2017/early 2018.

So what color trend is on the way up?

SW can color match other paint brands. BM has some good grieges. Blanking on names at the moment...

Color match BM pale oak and edgecomb gray - try those in your light

BM Revere Pewter is right up there with SW Repose Gray.

Do make sure whatever you choose pairs nicely with your trim and cabinet colors.

Our cabinets are Ikea grimslov off white (but barely noticeable as off white in bright lights), trim is white.

Having a baby while renovating a house put my nesting into overdrive, so yes, I'm definitely bordering a ledge on this!

it's a good idea to find out what "white" your trim is and to make sure it's harmonious with your wall color and your cabinet color. Definitely if you're having work done now is the time. At a minimum, you need to tell your contractor the brand and color of your trim so they can match it.

I never liked Repose Grey. I tried (what felt like) millions of grays when I painted (twice - once in 2014 and again in 2017).

But I agree with the previous poster that commented about this trend being over. The gray/greige interiors are definitely trends of 3-5 years ago, or even longer if you were an early adaptor. It does't matter, really - if you like grieve, you like it, but I would definitely think twice about "greiging" your whole house if you like to stay on trend.

This is a really pretty grey/white. We didn’t use it, but it was in the running. OP, we built in 2015/16 and griege already felt overdone then. I do think you are nearing the end of the life on this color. Jewel tones have been “in” for the last year+ I think we might be on the upswing of accent walls and mural like wall paper.

Also consider HGTV is all filmed about a year before you are seeing it.

OP here again... I'm not going all greige all over our house. JUST the first floor of our DC Rowhouse which is becoming essentially one single room of open floor plan with kitchen at the back (with new floor to ceiling windows and French doors to a deck, so a lot of light), dining area in the middle, living room at the front.

These use to be semi-open areas with each a separate wall color and I am really tired of having separate color areas on the first floor that I'm always coordinating other touches to the wall color. It's now a single room as we got rid of the existing wall partitions. We still may do a statement wall in the living room area, but I do need a single neutral base color for the rest of the room. Want it to be light and bright, nothing too dark, nor a washed out white. Kitchen cabinets are the white/ever so slightly off white Ikea grimslov cabinets with a white and marble style quartz. Don't care still if this is dated! I'm doing what I like, not catering to the style whims of the moment.

also it's...hgtv

has hgtv ever shown a house that doesn't look sort of terrible?

OP, stay the course!... with the gray as a background.

Here's a comparison chart. If you think Repose is too dark, you might like BM classic gray or balboa mist. They look a tad lighter.

But, you could also just go 25% lighter on the Repose gray and call it a day!
