Goalie Training

NP. Looks great but so far away. I wish there were good options in Montgomery County. I’ve been trying to find a good trainer for my u11 since last winter. It’s so frustrating. Fortunately he does get weekly training through his club but it’s in a group where the kids range greatly in ability. Thankfully he also has a coach who is very supportive and knowledgeable about the keeper position and that has really helped.

Laurie is worth the drive. She also frequently offers camps on school holidays.

Looking for keeper training over the winter. Any good camps to suggest?

This guy is one of the best you can find. I think he is now the GK trainer for one of the DA clubs, but he also does a lot of private training on the side. He's intense, and demands a lot, but I like that. If I had kid who was a GK. I wouldn't send them anywhere else.

Website is vague. Where is training located? How much does he charge? Will he travel to MD or DC?

Any recommendations for clinics or private trainers in DC or Montgomery County? Our 9th grade DS left his club (which had very inconsistent GK coaching and training anyway) and is now just focused on getting better to play varsity for his school, which is a solid and competitive program.

Just shoot him an email. Most GK trainers find space on where they can, often on a turf field before the teams come on. Zack has done a lot of stuff at Draper, but I think he's pretty flexible as far as location.

His email is: zarsocceracademy ["at"] gmail.com

Zach is the GK coach for Washington Spirit and FCV. If you are going to train with him you do it though one of these clubs. The DA parent above forgot to mention that in the plug above.

Zach will, also, train top end keepers outside of Washington Spirit or FCV. He places many keepers with other DA and ECNL teams.

Wow. You are really a jerk.

Someone else had already mentioned that he works with one of the DA clubs, but also does private training on the side. You don't need to be on one of those teams to work with him. I am not affiliated with either of those clubs by the way. I've known Zach for years, and I think he does a really great job, so I was just trying to help him out by sending some extra business his way.

He's a good guy. What's he ever done to you?

Bump

I was searching the forum for my U13 son and came across this posting. Given the passage of time I thought I would see if there were any updates or additional offerings close to Bethesda/Chevy Chase DC. His current club has not offered any goalie specific training yet.

Academy One Goalkeeping with Ed Brown is really good. Has sessions on weekend in Maryland and Virginia. Also a fantastic camp in the summer.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone might have updated recommendations?

Any places that offer good GK clinics for younger, less experienced players? Not really looking to do private lessons just yet.
