Don't drink your calories....no juice/soda/coffee drinks
I drink water, coffee with splenda and wine lol, also seltzer. Once in awhile I get a cocktail while out but thats it. I also don't eat dessert |
| I've cut out all alcohol so that i can eat dessert |
I'd rather have alcohol. |
| Most processed food contains sugar. Stop eating it. No pasta, limit fruit, etc. |

To completely eliminate added sugar, eat food that remembers where it came from: whole fruits, vegetables, meat. If you purchase or regularly use something processed, look at the label, find a brand with none of the ingredients on the nice list PP posted, and stock your pantry with that brand.
Figure out where your sugar weaknesses are and make substitutions: drink sugary things regularly? become an afficionado of non sugar drinks; dessert? look for creative recipes with fruits, nuts, eggs, low sugar chocolate. |
| BTW, processed carbs (flour, bread, noodles) are generally just as bad as sugar. |
Honest question -- do most people like sweet pasta sauce? Sweet beans? There are a lot of pasta sauces I can't eat because of how sweet they are. When I eat with my relatives, they serve very sweet baked beans, sweet homemade mac and cheese, and lots of other prepared food that they seem to add a lot of sugar to. I even notice this at restaurants -- some perfectly good entree will be ruined by added sweetness. Why? It's so gross. |
| You may have a different experience, but my body responds very differently to actual sugar (granulated/brown/powdered) as opposed to pure maple syrup or honey. I find that if I avoid sugar and use syrup or honey sparingly as a sweetener I am in much better shape. |
