Cardigans and dresses

Honestly, I just wear a hoodie-like jacket. That way it's obvious I have a layer for warmth that isn't intended to look like part of my outfit.

How are sweater blazers and hahaha jardigans different than cardigans?

Are the people posting on this thread actual women with professional jobs in offices in DC? Because a sleeveless dress plus a cardigan is a staple office uniform for women.

Sleeveless -- can wear it all year round, including in DC summers.

I wear dresses with blazers when I have formal events or am meeting with clients, and dresses with cardigans when I am spending my day at my desk and not meeting so much with others.

OP, where do you normally shop for cardigans? Because I see them literally everywhere. All the stores.

Also, I am going to wear a dress plus a cardigan today, just out of spite.

Me as well. I do it all the time too. OP I like Boden cropped cardigans. They are close fitting and colorful.

That’s pretty much the definition of frumpy. You think a grown woman should be wearing bows?! Kate Spade looks cute on 20 somethings.

No, the definition of frumpy is “dowdy or old-fashioned”. Trying to dress young does not make one frumpy.

This is stupid advice.

I disagree. Cardigans tend to be frumpy. You have to try very hard for them not to be. It’s the kind of style (sleeveless dresss and cardigan) that’s very popular for 20 somethings. As you get older it simply isn’t a good luck.

OP look for dressss with sleeves. Cheaper retailers like jcrew make so many sleeveless dresses because it’s cheaper. Look for dresses at ReiSs, Theiry, Karen Miller, etc.

Good luck with that, LOL.

Wut?

At work?

The only cardigans I like are the long skinny cut ones that are open in front and kind of gauzy/light. I think they work well over shifts, but I'm tall so this might be biased bc i know petite people might not like things to their upper thighs

+1 to all of this. Try Ann Taylor, Boden, J.Crew, Nordstorm's (the house brands like Halogen tend to have staples like cardigans).

Ok, fashion diva. Show me the dresses you think I should be wearing as partner in a law firm. I wear Theory and Karen Millen, but the vast majority of them are sleeveless or shortsleeve, including their fall/winter lines. I personally think long-sleeved dresses are not very professional looking, particularly the ones they are showing now with the fuller and flared sleeves.

OP, Nic & Zoe has some cute more structured cardigans and sweater material blazers that work well. Would welcome other suggestions from PP who clearly does not work in a professional office.

I also recommend the Boden ones. They come in several colors, materials, different length sleeves, AND different overall lengths (true waist or hip).

Pp here. I admit it’s hard to find dresses with sleeves. Here are a few

Here are some structured blazers that would look better than cardigans

I would buy 1-2 blazers and mix and match with a few nice silk tops and skirts/pants
