Sounds normal and it's quite common. It's part of the reason preschools start off with half day (1.5hr) sessions at first to help ease into the preschool transition. Did you go to the open house/meet & greet? Give it some time. It is part of a new routine for everyone. |

It's perfectly normal and actually very positive that she explained so much about her day, OP.
My son screamed solidly for 2 hours on his first day, and had to be walked outside with one of the teachers, while I drove to pick him up. After the first week, he was fine and grew to love his preschool, which we used again for DD. What's not normal is crying every single day for the ENTIRE year! A girl in DD's class did that. I don't know what the issue was, but I felt really bad for her. |
Yes, we did the open house, and she was actually fine the first two days last week. But then she started crying hard at dropoff on Thursday and Friday, and this morning the teacher just couldn't redirect her. We'll going to try picking her up after 2 hours tomorrow (instead of 3) and see if that helps... |
| op here. Its a small class with 7 students. All the other kids in the school seem very happy. We’ll try having dad do drop off tomorrow. |
So your 3.5 year old used the word “nervous”and said all of this to you in the car ride? Wow! Her communication ability is amazing? What do you expect from a child that has never attended preschool and is only going for three hours? You sound like that clinger mom as well which makes it that much worse. Next time, let her know in the morning about what the expectations are and drop her off quickly. She is going to cry no matter what. I would also recommend a longer period of time. She will be four soon and needs to know what a full day is like before Kindergarten. |
You have issues PP. |
| It's surely not uncommon. Best of luck! |
