There’s an interesting graphic in the NYT today which shows you how many 90 degree days your hometown had on average the year you were born, how many now, and how many when you’re 80.

I’ll let you guess which direction it goes in, even if countries take action to meaningfully decrease fossil fuel emissions (which they’re not doing).

Forgive this dumb question, but does this mean our winter might be warmer?

No it means it will be more extreme (so colder)

Thank you for answering! I hate cold and snow so this is not good news.

I'm so sick of summer, can't wait for fall and hoping for a nice snow this winter.

Eh, some do. I've never complained about winter and wished for summer. I was in heaven this past year when I needed winter coats so late in the season!

Soon it will be over and then you'll be whining about cold and getting dark to soon. You have AC in your house, office, car, and all stores, so you can't be that uncomfortable!

Not me - I love the shorter days, cold, and generally everything about the weather from late October to early March! Summer can die the fiery death it deserves!

Our air conditioner just broke. It’s 85 degrees in the house!

Thank God we finally have a thread about typical weather for this area this time of year.

I am a runner and it’s so miserable. All I want is to be able to go outside and bang out a few miles and not want to die. I haven’t had a good run since June.

I thought weather didn't equal climate? That's what you people keep saying.

Oh, so it DOES equal climate when it supports your argument? But not when it doesn't.

Gotcha.

+2, I was beginning to worry that DCUM wasn't going to complain about something that was completely normal... but then they did.

Reading is hard, I know. But, the PP clearly is referencing climate (that is weather patterns over decades). Thanks.

Ahhhh, so "global warming" means it gets COLDER in the winter.

Can I play, too???

Global COOLING then means it will be HOTTER in the summer! (see? It's the opposite?)

Therefore, we are clearly in a global cooling cycle, since people say the summers are getting hotter.

Can I have my NOAA grant now? I'd like to buy a Tesla P100 DL .... to save the planet.

Dont want to enter climate. Hanged debate.....just want to complain about heat and humidity this morning. Sweating profusely off my face while saying goodbye to first day school bus. Yuck!

The great thing about seasons in DC is they change. Usually when we are just about our breaking point of tolerance - boom. Fall, Apple cider, pumpkin and (gah!) Christmas decorations. We’ll be in the beautiful crisp air over the next 90 days.
