Average for the year, maybe $50. I almost never wear any makeup. I have thick, long AA hair and am a bit of a product junky. It isn’t unusual for a jar of curling custard to cost $28. I can go through a jar in a month if I’m on a kick of changing up my hairstyle daily. Add in hair pins and elastic bands that I constantly lose. I get it straightened and trimmed every six months for about $180. I have few grays. A $6 box of Bigen lasts me a year. I only mix a little of the powder and apply with my fingers to just the strands that need it. |
I don’t have any monthly expenses just a couple big splurges about twice a year. Wax pass at EWC, fresh set of Kiehls products, replace mascara/highlighter. |
Best guess is around 150 or so per month. I consider myself pretty low maintenance, but I have short hair, so I get it cut once every other month or so, and highlights done in a salon three times a year. I do get monthly pedis and the occasional eyebrow wax and manicure. Most of my skincare is from Clinique, but I do buy some of their more expensive stuff for aging skin. I use dept. store makeup and drugstore shampoo and soap. |
On average about $600 per month
Highlights are 2x a year and $350 = $700 Haircuts 4x a year at $100 = $400 Color touch ups every 5 weeks at approx $120 = ~ $1,100 Make up purchases = $500 per year Blowouts maybe 25 times a year at $50 each time = $1,250 Keratin once a year = $400 Nails 20 plus times a year = ~$500 Eyebrow threading 10 times a year =~$200 Retina = $100 Botox and fillers $1800 per year I hate spending this but I feel likes it’s required to look good. There’s a stark difference between women who spend on these items and those who don’t. You can get away not spending it until you hit your 30s. |
I’m impressed you’re only $350! I assume you don’t do fillers or have your hair highlighted |
+1 I feel like lots of women think it's stupid especially on this forum. But I don't want to only save for retirement, I want to live too and look great. I am almost 40 and started to spend more on myself in my late 30s. |
Similar to Los Angeles person.
$85/mo - wax $120/mo - hair + brows $65/mo - mani/pedi $140 - monthly facial or extraction Total is $530/mo and I consider it time and money well spent. I might expand that to lashes soon...but for now I'm good. Various makeup expenses and skincare regimen - $800/year. |
LOL, yes, yes there is. |
Good lord, please don't. Coworker just did this at "the best" place that makes them look "natural" and she looks crazy. |
I know a part of siblings 15 months apart (Irish twins). One uses and has used botox for 5 years consistently. The other hasn't. Seeing them together and you'd think the other was 10 years older. So yes. There is a difference and its discernible. |
Similar to others on the high end.
Haircut every 16 weeks - $100 each Highlights every 8 weeks - $150-200 each time Sephora - $500-800/yr Bikini wax - 4 x $60/yr CVS/Target shampoo, nail files, self tanner, etc. - $100-200/yr Dermatologist/ RetinA - $250/yr Mani/pedi a few times a year - $200 Part of me wants to do Latisse and fillers/Botox but that means less money for clothes. |
Because hygiene is not beauty. I have some white hairs amid my dark hair, no grey. Not planning on dyeing my hair. I do not include standard toiletries because we all share the same bottles in the family, so it’s not individual to me. We use Klorane/Bioderma/Avene/La Roche Posay shampoo, shower gel, etc, out of the family household items budget. I have my own little La Roche Posay sunscreen and RoC retinol for myself, but a little goes a long way. A Dior lipstick or Chanel polish once in a while. If stored carefully, make-up is good way past their expiration dates. The idea that you need to use a ton of stuff daily to look decent has been created by the cosmetics industry. You don’t actually need much. The people around me who use the least stuff have the best complexions. |
Mostly for my hair. I go every three weeks.
$280 cut/color (roots)/tip I have black hair that is about 1/4 grey and looks awful otherwise. But my hair always looks fabulous so completely worth it. I am a rouge at Sephora so at least $1000/yr. I like makeup and products. I do my own nails and toes and had body hair lasered off. |
I’m 44.
I color my hair from a box every 4 weeks and have finally figured out a color and method that looks as good as the salon and saves the time and money. $10 a month I spend $575 on Botox about 3 times a year. I get my toes done monthly during the summer $150 total I probably spend $10/month on products. Just wear drug store mascara and foundation. |
I’d also rather spend money on beauty than on a divorce lawyer. |
