I am 52 and a SAHM. DH is retired. FYI, he spends more than me on upkeep specifically he gets highlights (blond) and regular massages and pedicures. |
Good Q!
Highlights/haircuts: $250 3-4x/year so call it $1K Monthly waxing in summer; probably every 6 weeks in winter (underarm, legs, bikini): $195 x 8= $1500ish Monthly pedicures in summer: $95 x 7 = $700ish Retin A: sometimes I have copay, sometimes I don't: maybe $60/yr tops Dermatologist (with copays) & any meds - maybe 4x/year tops so $300ish I get Joico shampoo/conditioner & hairspray at TJMaxx; they are $16 each & probably last 2 months; $32x6 - $200ish/yr Bumble & Bumble hair products + Dermalogica cleanser etc: ~$750/yr Probably get my makeup done once every 2-3 yrs (when I buy new products) at Bloomingdales or Nordstrom & I like Chanel foundation: $300-$500 every few years I get Target mascara regularly - other stuff I only replace if it runs out ~$50/yr Really like a specific sunscreen that costs $50 per bottle; I think I bought 3 bottles this year I think it's roughly $5K/yr so maybe $400 or so a month. This does not count my exercise costs (e.g. classes, gym membership, attire, etc). Also doesn't cover my supplements (like viviscal & collagen) which are definitely related expenses. Things I contemplate doing but haven't pulled the trigger on yet: botox, facials, manicures, more regular massages |
Wow! I wish I had as much disposable income as some of you ladies! |
A lot. Prob 1000+ right now because I’m in the middle of laser hair removal. I also do Botox every 3 months at $400 a pop. I’m going to do IPL next month which is $500. Mani/pedi every 3 weeks which is $100 (including tip). I wear very little makeup and don’t color my hair. I get it cut every 3 months for $100. |
Highlights 2-3/year at $250
Color roots every 6 weeks $75 Hair cut - 4/year at $50 Drugstore shampoo & conditioner, so not a lot. More $$$ leave in conditioner but I don't use a lot so it lasts me a while. Pedicure every month but only in the summer. I spend a lot on my skin (maybe 3K/year?) so very little on makeup because I have good skin. I just use some tinted sunscreen, mascara, blush, tinted lip balm and call it a day. |
I'm roughly the same. I'm only 31 so I haven't gotten to the botox/filler phase of my life but I love makeup/beauty products and I get a massage/body treatment once per month. |
Thats almost what I spend too except for dermatologist (I go once a year for annual check-up that covered by my insuarance), and buy Retin A overseas cheaper and without prescription. I also do my own make up always, and don't spend as much on hair product. Other than that, the same cost. |
Why your Botox doesn't last 6 month? |
Most times I've had it done they tell me it will last 3-6 months. Usually it lasts me around 4. |
Me too. Color with blow dry, cut $240 Pedicure every 2-3 weeks $36 with tip Eyebrows $24 every 4-6 weeks Not including make up or salon or skincare produc Then add in $600 every 4-5 months at dermatologists. |
Your husband gets blonde highlights?? Wtf? I think he might have a bf. |
Upkeep gets more expensive the older you get.
Big time. I spend three times as much at 48 than I did at 28. |
Skincare products average about $50/month last I checked and I use a lot but buy from Korea
2 haircuts per year, usually $100+ each, so averaged out to ~$20/month Make-up is bought in batches and I haven't tracked how long they all last relative to their price, but I use drugstore mostly so I'm guessing about $20-30/month. Manicures, when I get them, are $40 each & 2x month. All totals to about $180/month. |
He gets highlights at my suggestion and goes to my hair stylist with me. He goes with me every 6 weeks for a cut and gets highlights 3x a yr. It looks great ![]() To add to your outrage ![]() |
How old are they? |
