I thought the DC Burr was whiny. Austin Scott is a much better singer than LMM but LMM has emotional expression and nuance that Scott doesn’t even touch. Work! |

Saw it last night (also saw with original cast in NY). Loved Hamilton, hated the effeminate Burr, except for his solos when he stood/sat mid-stage (has a great voice!). Fantastic production, I laughed, I cried, BUT: my biggest challenge was the lack of height in many of the lead characters. Dumb, I know, and maybe it's because of having seen it in NY where Washington and Jefferson and Burr were so strong/present/commanding/TALL, but I struggled with their lack of height/strength last night. Maybe because DCs Hamilton is so tall compared to Lin Manuel Miranda? I don't know, but it definitely bothered me.
The ladies all wowed, especially Peggy/Reynolds. Had the understudy for Angelica, and while she could sing, she didn't articulate very well (and I know every word, every note, every character), and was difficult to understand. |
I noticed the height thing also. I agree it’s because the DC Hamilton is much taller than Maranda. Although I think that works better. He is supposed to be such a ladies man and while LMM is obviously incredibly talented the whole idea of the women being struck down by his looks and charisma isn’t really there for me. |
NP Leslie Odom Jr, is only 5'7" so he certainly wasn't taller than Lin. |
I think if you met Lin in person than you would see his charisma and charm. He may not be your type but, he is cute and better looking than the majority of people out there. |
What effeminate Burr? Nicholas Christopher? He reminded me of the rapper Common. I thought he was great. |

As I said in a different thread, the London Hamilton towers over most of the cast, and it really adds interesting presence, power, and authority to the character.
It is fun to see and compare different interpretations. |
Same. We were in intermission before I realized and I couldn't believe he wasn't the principal. My parents saw Scott a few days later and were blown away as well. I wish I could watch it a few more times. |
In real life Hamilton was pretty short. I felt like the DC Washington was not tall enough. Washington needs to be tall and imposing. |
In real life, they were also all white, so, you know... Seeing the different interpretations and perspectives is part of the thrill. |
| The king was the best in show. Saw it last weekend, seem better shows. Guy behind me snoring half the show and two people checking phones. Seems to have peaked already |

Right, and very slender. Washington, on the other hand, was very tall for those times and his height was impressive to many. |
+1 I wish Washington was taller and had a deeper voice. His voice reminded me too much of Jefferson on the soundtrack. Overall, amazing! Going to try to see it again soon! |
Everyone in our section was giddy and excited before/during/after. Lots of participation. Also, lots of applause for “immigrants get the job done”.
