Gel nails regrowth looks bad

I also think gel/dip look bad (too thick). However, I know I’m lucky to have nice nails and nail beds have never been a nail biter.

Throw up? Aren’t you a sensitive snowflake, little girl!

Half grown out dagger nails sounds gross to me!

Yes the thick look on fat hands is so unattractive.

Sounds like a bunch of poor whiners who can't afford a gel manicure.

Gel and acrylic are for strippers. Trashy

My nails are paper thin and peel/bend/tear, even using strengthening polish or vitamins. Gel manicures allow them to grow for a bit. I do it for special occasions.

I don’t understand this logic because the gel ruins your nailbeds or damages it somewhat. What’s the point of longer nails with damaged nail beds?

I have been getting gel for a few years now. Will never go back. I get them every two weeks and they always look good - and natural! You would not be able to tell the difference.

You MUST find a nail technician who is experienced and gentle with the gel removal. I have had bad people who destroyed my nails due to aggressive filing off the polish. If it is done gently, you can get them over and over again with no damage. I also find that is I use a light color, I can stretch a manicure to three weeks.

For those who say they look cheap, the person doing the manicure is probably not skilled and may be doing too many coats. 2 costs max and it looks great.

I get a regular manicure every two weeks (religiously) and the polish lasts at least a week without chipping, often closer to two. I go to a nice place and have a person who I know will do a good job. She swears that it’s the regular manicures that are the key. Over time my nails have really strengthened and if you only go once every few months that isn’t going to happen.

I also think the gel nails look very fake.

Thank you for a reasonable post. I got a light colored gel once and it looked fine. I don't keep it up because I want to keep my natural nails strong and they look nice with a coat of clear. But I get people who want to.

Maybe the thick crap I am seeing is actually people with acrylics still.

The one reasonable post is the person who agrees with you.

Maybe. Or really poorly done gel/powder with too many coats. I do powder and love the place I go to. It's indistinguishable from regular polish.

I love gel manicures. They last me at least three weeks and look shiny until the last day (except for some limited RE growth). Totally worth the extra money.
