What do MD residents think of this?

Actually that part of his statement was slightly less absurd than the rest of it, which shows how ridiculous it all was.

Why do you take every business location decision, that has nothing to do with Md, and make it about Md? Are you a Va vs Md sh*t stirrer? Do you think you can make some point about social and economic policy this way?

Why not post about actually live political questions in the metro area?

This has nothing to do with MD business climate and EVERYTHING to do with where the agencies - and hence Big Fed $$$ - are located. Investments by the USG in NoVA 30 years ago are paying huge dividends for NoVA. Land in NoVA was much cheaper back then than land in MD.

That person is just one of the VA people who has an inferiority complex. Always trying to find a reason to take a shot at MD.

As a resident of MD it concerns me to see business after business relocating to or expanding in NoVA, while we remain stuck in the mud. Have you seen the latest budget numbers? Not good. We need growth to pull us out of this mess, but businesses seem to prefer NoVA.

NOVA is awesome. Maryland has a lot of undesirable places for business and residents.

Yes, it's called BWI.

But BWI options are more limited than IAD's and BWI and it takes longer for someone in MoCo to get to BWI than it does for lots of folks in VA to IAD. For a lot of MoCo, IAD is actually closer than BWI.

But, MD's business climate, particularly in MoCo, is also a big part of the problem.

The People’s Republic of Maryland has major problems attracting businesses and people. Yes, wealthy citizens are moving to VA, and have been for years. Why deal with an overtaxing nanny state when you can move an hour south? Plus the schools are much better in NoVa (on balance).

MoCo has allowed the Eastern side of the county to stagnant, jept up the weird alcohol laws (no beer and wine in most grocery store) and the county liquor Monopoly, and Seema to scare off small business.

I like living in Maryland, but hate that they can't seem to get it together to attract more business. At least Rockville Pike and Wheaton are finally redeveloping.

Of the 3 airports in the region, BWI does the most passenger traffic and has had record growth. Dulles used to be #1 about 10 years ago, but it's stagnated and BWI is booming. Reagan would grow more, but there just isn't the space.

Dulles is the leader by a long way in international flights, but BWI holds it own and then some when it comes to domestic traffic. It's also much faster to get through; has more parking options; and has just had one expansion and they just approved doing another.

That said, as a MoCo resident, MoCo in particular is business-unfriendly thanks to a lot of the anti-business members of the county council. The term limits referendum is helping to somewhat clean house, but the prospect of Elrich moving from there to County Exec does not bode well.

I voted for term limits to clear put the current council in MoCo and get people in who cared about the economy.

Amazon with AWS has been growing. MD is not business friendly. Amazon allows working from home when possible. So, you commute.

Not while Hogan-Trump is governor, anyway. No business wants to be in a place where the governor is spooning in bed with the most hated man in our lifetime.

When Ben Jealous is governor, you're going see traffic jams of moving vans coming across the bridge from Virginia, carrying all the companies that will be relocating to Maryland.

Hahahhahahahahhahahahahahaha.

+1 Will NEVER happen.

Why? I've lived in DC, MD, and VA. NOVA is better by a long shot than DC or MD.
And apparently businesses agree with me
