Lanny Davis should know better than that. They were discussing financing or paying cash.

A significant percentage of Americans purchase real estate by paying cash. Are they all mobsters?

Please. Tell us who exactly is walking into closing a real estate purchase with a suitcase full of cash, rather than a bank check? Once upon a time, I practiced real estate law, and I have literally never seen someone whip out hundred or thousands or millions in cash.

Thanks for playing let’s tie ourselff into a knot defending Trump, but no.

If you really are a lawyer, you will know there are plenty of cash buyers in real estate. That doesn’t mean they bring a suitcase of cash to closing. Paying cash means no mortgage is involved.

Seriously. No one walks around with a suitcase full of cash.

DP, but that’s not the issue on this tape. Trump says “cash?” And Cohen responds, “no, no, no, check.” Trump is talking about currency. In the real estate sense, “cash” means without financing - totally different. Two different uses of the word.

Did people listen to a different tape than I did? https://www.vox.com/2018/7/24/17610584/tape-michael-cohen-trump-payoff-playboy-model-karen-mcdougal-recording

It was mainly unintelligible and certainly not incriminating.

Cohen brought up “financing” first. Trump then asked “what financing”? Cohen responded “we have to pay for these”. Then the “cash” thing came up. It is clear that the “cash” meant no financing.

No, Trump was clearly talking cash on the barrel. It’s “cash” versus “check.” Rudy even made a big deal of this because the “check” would be so much more upstanding than a cash payout. That was the whole point. In any event, a check paid through a shell corporation meant to hid the identity of “David” (Dennison) is so sketchy and these crooks act like it’s all normal business. They are all criminals. Guiliani and Trump with another huge self-own. Almost as incompetent as Nunes.

This is only one tape. Trump waived his client rights to this one tape, not any others. Why? Easy to figure.

The transcript isn’t very exciting. Wa Po has it and it doesn’t seem like much.

Bonus from the tape...At the start of the Trump-Cohen tape, Trump is on the phone with someone named "Pam" talking about an event she was due to attend. She relays some news. He says "Oooooh..." and then suggests she wait a couple wks until it passes. This tape was allegedly made in Sep/Oct 2016.
