It is great for our club and for the kids who are on the bubble of making a higher level team, it gives them exposure to better coaching and playing with better players. We have a large roster due to summer travel and the players and parents almost see it as down time which the coach encourages.

How much money is your team that you feel it is a waste of money?

The poor coaching. To me, any program is defined by who is coaching it. It was Brent something or other from McLean.

It sounds like you are just trying to bash McLean, the season is currently going on and McLean doesn't have any teams playing this summer

Look up Northern Va Majestics - AKA McLean. Plenty of teams on boys and girls side playing this summer.

Why wouldn't they put Mclean?

+1000. Exactly. Make sure you find out who is coaching it first. The concept is a good one.

Listen, let your DD drive that. Mine is a soccer junkie, so she literally can’t get enough. That’s why we tried it. But my older kid was a competitor, just not to that level and needed time off. You don’t want to hold your kid back, but watch out for burn out too.

maybe totally different perspective here.

My daughter is doing it and I was very reluctant at first because I am seeing what may have already been describing. However, when I spoke to my daughter we turned it on her as opportunities/challenges.

First off, not playing in age group, second, our coach seems to be very good, whether all the players can realize the stuff he is promoting is another story. Some can and do, but not all. There is clear guidance to play with possession, keep individual ball control as appropriate and keep moving forward. He challenges many of the girls based on their unique issues/personalities.

I thought we would have a larger game day roster, but only 10, 11 or 12 show up? well.. my daughter wants to run for "90 mins", this continues to give her better perspective to play more resourcefully and tactically aware position wise.

I've seen plenty of girls during the year that were moving slowly and clearly dragging. Technical clinics aren't going to get you to the next level for the full 90.

Weaker talent typically than used to? time to keep trying out new things without risk. new technique, role, positioning, etc..

We do have some weaker players that affect the score, but in the end no biggie.

Meet new coaches, players, and get different opportunities for 2 months, and then it ends... my daughter has some new friends, increased her soccer network and got some exercise and looks to be continuing to develop.

give your kids a break during summer. More is not better

I can assure you that advantage is short lived and if you have a good coach the kids will be right back where they left it after a few practices.

Northern VA Majestics already have a Super Y affiliation. Rather than spend their own money to affiliate with Super Y, McLean probably partnered with Majestics to funnel players to them.

This is our first year of super y. My son is enjoying the better competition at practice and having players around him that are a little more solid fundamentally. A couple of days ago, practice was cancelled for the entire week of the 4th. This was not posted when we signed up for the team...but this might be normal. Did all super y clubs cancel practice this week?

You are very welcome. I hope it was helpful.

Money grab and ruins your summer and many times you can't field a team because of vacations.
