| At least Erick Lang won’t be the one in charge of choosing the new curriculum anymore. I think that is good news. |
| This is really bad. Revising the RFP, providing firms with the required response time, selection committee, presentations by finalists all can take weeks. How is this going to get done before the school year starts? Will any school be able to pilot the new curriculum next year? Erick Lang if he is the one who did this should face sanction and penalties. |
| What they’re saying is you’re never seeing this implemented in the coming school year. |
I agree. I work at a school that was chosen to pilot the ELA curriculum next year and we found out on Friday. More information about summer training was supposed to come out today and I had a feeling something was up when it didn't. All we were told was that we would be dropping our current summer trainings (the ones that took literally hours to sign up for because MCPS didn't plan for thousands of teachers to be on at once and the system didn't work) in order to receive 2 days of training on the new curriculum. Training dates have to be set in the next few weeks and I don't see that happening. |

Thanks, OP. I suppose we need to be thankful for small mercies - that someone actually found out and halted a potentially tainted process. At least that's honest. Imagine if they had gone ahead with a back-doored, second-rate, curriculum... |
He should have his pension taken away for him for corrupting the process. |
Ha! Not going to happen. No consequences in MCPS. Not for students who misbehave, and not for administration who waste taxpayer money implementing a sh*ttastic curriculum. |
| Total BS. Lang was one of the few sane people left in MCPS. Current upper leadership is clueless as to what schools need. |
Exactly. An thin excuse to hide that Navarro has no idea what she's doing. |
+1,000 |
I served on a committee once with him and found him to be pretty much a boy scout and actually knew instruction. |
Same does not equal competent or honest . In most organizations you have to disclose when you’re in advanced talks with a potential vendor about a job and recuse yourself. What he’s done is corrupt. |
Then how did c2.0 happen and this shady business with conflict of interests? |
Ahh so Hopkins writes an "independent" report then submits a proposal in the RFP that came from that report. How is that not conflict of interest? |
Presumably JHU just used the findings of the report to develop technical specifications for the RFP. They’re not going to benefit financially from the Vendor selection. |
